Join Jax Wellness Collective and Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault for a gentle, restorative gathering created to support healing, connection, and care in our community.

Saturday, October 17 | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM

This event is open to everyone. Whether you are a survivor yourself, love someone who is, or simply want to show up in support of survivors in our community, you are welcome here.

Together, we’ll spend an hour slowing down and reconnecting through:

✨ Restorative yoga
✨ Gentle breathwork
✨ A deeply relaxing sound bath

There is no cost to register, though advance registration is appreciated so we can prepare the space. We also understand that privacy and comfort matter. If you would prefer not to register in advance, walk-ins are absolutely welcome. No explanation is ever necessary. If you are able to register, you can sign up on the Jax app or here: https://share.fitdegree.com/?share=6aa1b56814149

Instead of a class fee, we invite participants who are able to make a donation to Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault on the day of the event. Donations can be made by check or on their website.

Can’t attend but still want to support this work? Donations can also be made directly through their website.

Come exactly as you are. Ground your body. Gather in community. Help us surround local survivors with support.

September always feels like an invitation to come back to yourself. 🍂

Back to routines. Back to movement. Back to the things that make you feel grounded, strong, and a little more like YOU.

If your practice got pushed aside this summer, you don’t need to “get back in shape” before you come back. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to commit to five days a week. You just need to start where you are.

Come back because your nervous system could use the reset.
Come back because strength is an investment in your future self.
Come back because you deserve a spot on your own schedule, too.
Come back because consistency will always matter more than intensity.
And come back because life is simply better when we do it together. 🫶🏼

Your mat is still here.
Your people are still here.
And there’s a spot in the room for you.

See you at Jax. ✨

TOMORROW NIGHT AT JAX 🎶

We’re turning the studio into a listening room for a very special evening with singer-songwriter Denison Witmer, and we would love to fill the room for him.

Denison is an American indie-folk singer-songwriter who has been making beautifully thoughtful, introspective music for more than 25 years. His catalog includes albums like Philadelphia Songs, Are You a Dreamer?, The Ones Who Wait, American Foursquare, and his most recent album, Anything At All. He’s also a longtime friend and collaborator of Sufjan Stevens, who produced Anything At All and has appeared on Denison’s music over the years.

If you love intimate acoustic music, great songwriting, or cool experiences in our small town- this is the kind of night you’ll appreciate.

Meet Sarah Bruce, the newest addition to our Jax instructor team! 🫶🏼

Turns out, sunrise strength at 5:15 AM isn’t so bad when this smiling face is there to greet you, hype you up, and get you STRONG before most people have had their first cup of coffee. 💪

Sarah has spent years training in the CrossFit space and recently completed her certification to lead our Jax Strength classes. We are SO excited to finally have an early morning strength option on the schedule!

And apparently you are too. We haven’t even marketed these classes yet and some are already hitting a waitlist. 👀 We’ll be buying more weights and opening a few additional spots, but space will still be limited, so get yourself signed up!

Jax Strength is designed to help you build real-world strength, stability, and confidence. Think of it almost like a small-group personal training session: intentional programming, functional movements, progressive strength work, and an instructor there to guide you through it.

Catch Sarah Tuesday + Thursday mornings at 5:15 AM and start your day strong.

Welcome to the team, Sarah! We’re so happy you’re here. 🫶🏼

Pregnancy and postpartum aren’t seasons when you need to stop moving. They’re seasons when movement needs to move with you. 🫶🏼

At Jax, moms are especially close to our hearts. Wendy is a certified doula and lactation counselor, in addition to her experience teaching yoga, Pilates, strength and wellness.

Our yoga teacher training includes prenatal and postpartum education, so our teachers understand how to thoughtfully adapt movement throughout pregnancy. We know how to use props and modifications from the first trimester through delivery, helping moms continue practicing as long as they feel comfortable and have no medical restrictions.

That includes Pilates, too. We can provide wedges for our reformers to provide elevation during pregnancy and can modify movements to upright, side-lying or other comfortable positions as bodies change.

And we’re especially careful postpartum.

At Jax, we consider postpartum to extend through the first 24 months after birth. Being cleared for exercise doesn’t necessarily mean your body is ready to jump straight back into everything you did before pregnancy. Your core, pelvic floor, joints and connective tissues need time and thoughtful progression.

Start with yoga and beginner-friendly Pilates. Walk with baby. Reconnect with your breath and core. Then gradually add strength as your body is ready.

No pressure to “bounce back.” Just smart, supportive movement that meets you where you are.

Because taking care of the mom is part of taking care of the baby, too. Oh, and please bring the baby for us to snuggle 🫶🏼

Sometimes the goal isn’t to push harder. Sometimes the goal is to help your body feel safe enough to soften. 🫶🏼

If you’re moving through a season of chronic stress, burnout, grief, overwhelm, anxiety, or simply feeling like your nervous system is stuck in “ON,” this is the Jax schedule we’d start with.

Think less about burning calories and crushing workouts, and more about creating consistent experiences of breath, movement, strength, rest, connection and regulation.

Start with the gentler options. Nourish. Infrared Yin. Reformer Stretch. Walking meditations. Choose 1–2 classes rather than feeling like you need to do everything. As your capacity grows, Pilates and strength can be beautiful additions too. Your nervous system doesn’t need you to avoid challenge forever. We want to gradually build your capacity to meet challenge and recover from it.

And this is an area we care deeply about at Jax.

Our yoga teacher training is a trauma-informed training, and all of our yoga classes are taught through a trauma-informed lens. Wendy and Gabby have completed additional education in trauma-informed care as well.

And we’re expanding that philosophy beyond the yoga room. After Wendy completes her certification through Ritual Moves, our Pilates teachers will receive additional education in embodied and intuitive Pilates, bringing more awareness, choice and connection into the way we teach movement on the reformer, too.

Trauma-informed doesn’t mean every class is quiet, easy or restorative. It means we recognize that every person walking through our doors arrives with a different body, history, capacity and lived experience. We want you to have choices. We want you to learn to listen to your body. And we want movement to be a place where you can build trust with yourself, not another place where you have to override yourself.

You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to punish your body into wellness.
And healing doesn’t always look like doing more.

Sometimes it looks like learning how to be in your body again.

Okay GLP-1 girlies (and guys!), this one is for you. 💉✨

A GLP-1 can be an incredibly helpful tool, but losing weight and building a strong, healthy body are not necessarily the same thing. And while the medication may help with appetite and weight loss, we still want to be intentional about protecting muscle, supporting bone health, maintaining mobility and building habits you can carry forward.

That’s where movement comes in.

If you’re newer to exercise, you absolutely do NOT need to jump straight into six hard workouts a week. Start with gentle yoga and Pilates options. Walk. Get comfortable moving your body consistently. Then begin adding strength training 1–2 times per week.

As you build your routine, we love a combination of:

✨ Strength to prioritize and preserve muscle
✨ Pilates for strength, stability, balance and core
✨ Yoga for mobility, recovery and stress support
✨ Walking/cardio for cardiovascular health and daily movement
✨ Jumpboard, bounce or other appropriate impact for an extra challenge and bone-loading stimulus

Swipe through for our class recommendations and a sample week. And remember, the sample schedule is an example, not a prescription. You don’t have to do everything on it. Pick the pieces that work for your body, your schedule and your current fitness level.

And one more thing: please make sure you’re eating enough protein and fueling your body. The goal isn’t simply to eat as little as possible because your appetite is lower. We want to support the muscle you’re working hard to keep.

The medication can be one tool.

Movement, muscle, nutrition and sustainable habits are what we are here to help you build around it.
