Wonderful back to School and Dance Workshop available for the Jacksonville Dance community and broader. We welcome guest Libby Riddick Libby Riddick teaching Broadway style jazz and master teacher Suzanne Saltmarsh Suzanne Saltmarsh with Ballet and pointe variations. We are forming a committed group of students who will work closely with our faculty next year: Evan Pitts, Matthew Doolin, Emily Poli (day-to-day operations), and myself, Suzanne Saltmarsh. We are also pleased to have Elizabeth Riddick, Ashley Brandt and Madysen Felber as a regular guest artists for this group. Program Schedule:
• Tuesdays: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
• Thursdays: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
• Saturdays: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

(Schedule may adjust slightly for local Nutcracker participation.)

Audition Information:

We will hold a Junior Company- "Salt Dance Collective" Second audition on Thursday August 6, 2026 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, open to all dancers in our program and the community.

During the audition:
• Dancers will be evaluated by our faculty
• Senior dancers will serve as demonstrators
• Students will work in ballet (flat slippers and pointe, if applicable) and contemporary
• Dancers will learn a short variation to assess their ability to pick up material and retain details

Join me this Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM for a Master Ballet Class at Saltmarsh Dance!
We’ll focus on breath, length through the spine, alignment, artistry, musicality, and expanding your technical facility—all while rediscovering the joy of dancing.
I would especially love to see some of my former students who are home from university, on summer break, or between company seasons. It would mean so much to reconnect and dance together again.

❤️ Honoring Juneteenth ❤️

Today we recognize and honor Juneteenth—a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.

As I reflect on this day, I am reminded of one of the highlights of my professional dance career: performing with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre at the The Kennedy Center (John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts) in 1992. Dancing alongside an extraordinary 100-voice choir was a powerful and unforgettable experience. Moments like these remind us of the ability of the arts to inspire, unite, and celebrate our shared humanity.

Today, we honor the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans and the countless artists whose work continues to enrich our communities.
