I believe Uber and Lyft drivers have a right to better treatment by these companies and I believe there is a direct and simple way of getting this done. BUT, it is going to take some effort on the part of the drivers if they really want change to happen. One of the main reasons Uber and Lyft can deny so much liability in these issues with drivers and customers is because they are involving you in incriminating agreements for the service. The most incriminating being that you are not required by Uber or Lyft to inform your own vehicle insurance provider of the use of the vehicle for commercial purposes and in turn many of you (an estimated 80% of all rideshare drivers in the US) chose NOT to inform your own insurance providers. This makes you MORE liable and incriminated for any wrong doing than Uber or Lyft when an if an incident happens or when the media takes attention to these wage and vehicle service issues. This means that YOU as drivers need to take a firm action in the regard. As long as you are lying to your onw insurance providers, you will NEVER be able to change what Uber and Lyft are doing because ultimately Uber and Lyft can just point the finger back at you because you agreed to all of this in your contracting and still chose on your own not to tell your own insurance provider. This is something that ALL confidence scams do in order to place blame elsewhere when ever they get caught. Do you really want to live inside that trap?

Uber Publicly Resists Fingerprinting But Is Quietly Testing It On Some Drivers Uber has publicly resisted adding fingerprint testing to its background check for drivers, but behind closed doors, the ride-hailing service is studying the effectiveness Live Scan, the process it often criticizes for having flaws and one that is required of many taxi companies.
