On May 2, 2026, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, better known together as The New Day, mutually parted ways with WWE in a decision that a majority of wrestling fans never thought they would see. They were WWE’s most accomplished stables/teams. Alongside Big E, they hold the record of most WWE tag team championships reigns at 13 world titles held. The departure was the end of an incredible run for both men. Kingston had been with WWE for nearly 20 years, while Woods had spent 16 years with the company.

It was later confirmed by both Woods and Kingston that they had been offered new contracts that included a significant reduction in pay. The two reportedly refused to accept a pay cut of more than 50% and ultimately chose to be released from their WWE contracts rather than agree to the new terms.

On August 30, during the Trios Roulette Royal for the AEW World Trios Championships, Kingston and Woods made their AEW debuts as the surprise final entrants. They entered the match alongside Swerve Strickland. The two also began competing under new names, with Kingston becoming simply Kofi and Woods being known as Austin Creed. Together, they’re now known as The New Level. They on to win the Trios Roulette Royal, capturing the AEW World Trios Championships in their debut. In the process, they defeated the reigning champions, “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido, (Brody King and Bandido.)

On the September 2nd edition of Dynamite, The New Level made their debut for the show, knocking off The Rascalz. After defending their championships against The Demand on the September 23rd edition of Dynamite, their next challengers were the former champions, taking place at All Out for a proper Trios Tag Team Championship match. 🎮

On August 24, 2025, at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Will Ospreay teamed with Darby Allin, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi of the Golden Lovers in a Lights Out Steel Cage match against the Death Riders, The Young Bucks and Gabe Kidd. Ospreay’s team was victorious, but following the match, the Death Riders attacked him, brutally injuring his neck.

The attack was used to write Ospreay off television so he could take time away from wrestling and recover from a herniated disc affecting his C2 and C6 vertebrae that were legitimate. Ospreay remained out of action for the following months as he focused on recovering from the injury. On March 15, 2026, at Revolution, Ospreay made his return when he attacked Jon Moxley after successful defense of the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takesh*ta.

His return match finally happened at Dynasty on April 12, 2026. Ospreay returned to the ring after being out of action for 231 days, with his first match back coming against Jon Moxley for the AEW Continental Championship. Ospreay was unsuccessful in winning. However, the Dynasty match would also become the beginning of a new relationship between Ospreay, Moxley and the Death Riders. 💀🇬🇧

WWE officially announced on April 19, 2025 that Worlds Collide would return for a fourth event, the first installment since 2022. The show took place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and was presented in collaboration with the legendary Mexican promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Later that same day, during the Countdown to WrestleMania 41 Saturday broadcast, WWE revealed that it had officially acquired AAA, making Worlds Collide 2025 a historic moment for the industry.

The event was held as part of the Money in the Bank 2025 weekend, taking place earlier in the day before Money in the Bank itself, which was hosted later that night at the Intuit Dome. In addition to WWE, NXT and AAA talent, the show also featured involvement from TNA, One of the standout matches on the card was the main event saw Chad Gable challenge El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship.

Later that same night, Gable appeared again this time under the masked persona of El Grande Americano in the Money in the Bank ladder match, which was ultimately won by Seth Rollins. In the weeks that followed, it was reported that Gable had suffered a legitimate shoulder injury, forcing him out of in ring action. As a result, the role of Americano was taken over by Ludwig Kaiser (or is it him? 🤔)

On the November 30, 2015 episode of Monday Night Raw, The Lucha Dragons and The Usos competed in a number one contender’s match to determine who would challenge The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championships. However, the match did not have a clear winner.

During the contest, The New Day became involved and attacked both The Lucha Dragons and The Usos. As a result of The New Day’s interference, the match ended in a double disqualification, meaning that neither team technically lost the number one contender’s match.

With both teams still eligible for a championship opportunity, Stephanie McMahon made a decision. Since neither The Lucha Dragons nor The Usos had been defeated, she announced that both teams would receive an opportunity to challenge The New Day. This led to a triple threat tag team ladder match being made for the WWE Tag Team Championships, with The New Day defending their titles against both The Lucha Dragons and The Usos. 🔥

On March 18th, 2017, PWG hosted its Nice Boys (Don’t Play Rock N’ Roll) event that produced some interesting and entertaining matchups! Matches included were Brain Cage defeating Keith Lee and Sami Callihan in the opener, The Chosen Bros (Jeff Cobb & Matt Riddle) OI4K, Lio Rush taking on Trevor Lee, future AEW World Champion, Shane Strickland (now known as Swerve Strickland vs. future NXT North American Champion, Dezmond Xavier (Wes Lee in WWE) and in the main event, hosted an incredible three way dance.

It was the defending PWG Tag Team Champions, Nick & Matt Jackson, The Young Bucks, going against The Lucha Brothers (Penta & Rey Fénix) and Ricochet & Matt Sydal. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

On the January 11, 2017 episode of NXT, DIY faced The Revival in the third and final match of their trilogy. With the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeated The Revival to retain the titles. The victory officially brought their series with Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson to an end, but DIY did not get much time to celebrate because following the match, The Authors of Pain attacked the champions.

At NXT TakeOver: San Antonio, DIY defended the NXT Tag Team Championship against The Authors of Pain. Gargano and Ciampa were unable to retain the titles, as Akam and Rezar defeated them to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

On April 1, 2017, at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, DIY, The Authors of Pain, and The Revival competed in a Triple Threat Elimination Match. The Authors of Pain ultimately retained the championships by eliminating DIY first and then eventually, The Revival.

On the May 10 episode of NXT, NXT General Manager William Regal announced that DIY would challenge The Authors of Pain in the first ever Ladder Match for the NXT Tag Team Championship at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. DIY would once again lose for the final time. Following their loss, as they both acknowledged the crowd and the event was seemingly about to go off the air, Tommaso Ciampa turned on Johnny Gargano. Ciampa attacked his longtime tag team partner in one of the most shocking heel turns in WWE history, bringing an end to DIY and beginning a new chapter in their careers as bitter rivals. 💔

After losing to Shinsuke Nakamura at the ROH/New Japan Pro Wrestling co produced War of the Worlds event on May 17, 2014, Kevin Steen announced that he would be leaving Ring of Honor. His final ROH match took place at the July 19 Ring of Honor Wrestling television tapings, where he defeated Steve Corino. A week later, on July 26, 2014, Steen wrestled his final match for PWG. In his PWG farewell match, he was defeated by Trevor Lee, bringing his run with the indie scene to an end and onto WWE.

On August 12, 2014, WWE officially announced that Steen had signed with the company. For his WWE career, Steen adopted the ring name Kevin Owens. The change from “Steen” to “Owens” was made as a tribute to his son, Owen, whose own name was inspired by legendary professional wrestler Owen Hart, Kev’s favorite wrestler as a kid. Before his in ring debut, NXT began airing promotional videos for Owens on November 20, 2014, introducing him to the NXT Universe and building anticipation for his arrival.

Owens made his official NXT in ring debut at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution on December 11, 2014, against CJ Parker. Owens defeated Parker in the match, with Owens suffering a broken nose during the bout after a palm strike from CJ.

Later in the night, After Sami Zayn (the former El Generico, Owens’ longtime tag team partner and bitter enemy on the indie circuit) won the NXT Championship from Adrian Neville, Owens entered the ring and attacked him. Owens powerbombed Zayn onto the edge of the ring apron before standing over Zayn and making it clear that he intended to challenge for the NXT Championship.

At Power Struggle on November 8, 2014, the second main event for Wrestle Kingdom 9 was officially set when Kota Ibushi challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship after Nak had just defeated one of his old friends and rivals, fellow New Musketeer, Katsuyori Shibata.

The match was huge and significant for Ibushi because it came at an important point in his career. Around this time, Ibushi had officially moved into New Japan’s heavyweight division after gaining weight and making the decision to compete as a heavyweight.

Ibushi and Nakamura were already familiar with one another. The two had previously faced each other during the 2013 G1 Climax, where they had one of the standout matches of the tournament. That earlier match was recognized by Tokyo Sports, with its readers selecting Nakamura vs. Ibushi as the publication’s Best Bout of the Year for 2013.

Their rematch at Wrestle Kingdom 9 took place on January 4, 2015, at the Tokyo Dome. Readers of the WON voted Wrestle Kingdom 9 as the Best Major Wrestling Show of 2015, while Nakamura vs. Ibushi was selected as the 2015 Pro Wrestling Match of the Year. The match was also rated by Dave Meltzer, awarding Nakamura vs. Ibushi a five star rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rey Mysterio made his WWE in ring debut on the July 25, 2002 edition of SmackDown, where he faced Chavo Guerrero. Mysterio defeated Guerrero in his first WWE match. Following his debut, Mysterio quickly entered a program with Kurt Angle. The two eventually met at SummerSlam on August 25, 2002, in the opening match of the event.

After his series with Mysterio, Kurt Angle moved into a program with Chris Benoit that led to a match at Unforgiven on September 22 with Benoit eventually securing the victory. However, the finish left Angle frustrated, as Benoit used the ropes for leverage while making the pin, allowing him to defeat Angle.

The feud between Angle and Benoit continued onto SmackDown later that week. On September 26, 2002, the two were still focused on one another when they entered a Triple Threat Match that also featured Rey Mysterio. The show took place in Mysterio’s hometown of San Diego, California, giving the hometown crowd the opportunity to see Mysterio compete against two of WWE’s most accomplished wrestlers at the time AND pick up the win! 🇲🇽

On June 27, 2025, in the main event of CMLL’s Viernes Espectacular, it was Místico, the face of the company, faced off against another CMLL fan favorite; the reigning ROH World Champion, Bandido. Two of the very best lucha libre had to offer going at it in a very excellent non title matchup. 🇲🇽❤️
