On the November 27, 2019 episode of NXT, the entire NXT roster, including members of NXT UK, came together to celebrate the brand’s successful showing at Survivor Series after defeating both Raw and SmackDown throughout the weekend. During the celebration, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Roderick Strong) interrupted the roster and took credit for NXT’s dominance. Tommaso Ciampa spoke up and reminded UE that it was his team at War Games that defeated UE the night before Survivor Series. He made it clear that he intended to go after Cole’s NXT Championship. Finn Bálor also interrupted and claim he was the next challenger in line.

Ciampa challenged Bálor to a match later that night, which Bálor accepted. During the match, Adam Cole interfered, allowing Bálor to defeat Ciampa. After the match was over, Bálor surprised Cole by attacking him with a Pele Kick.

The following week on NXT, Ciampa teamed with Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic in a six man tag team match against Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly of The Undisputed Era. Ciampa, Lee, and Dijakovic picked up the victory after Lee pinned Cole.

Afterwards, WWE announced that Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, and Finn Bálor would compete in a triple threat match on the December 11 episode of NXT to determine the new number one contender for Adam Cole’s NXT Championship. The match was won by Bálor, officially earning him a championship opportunity against Cole the following week where he was ultimately defeated by Cole to due to interference from Johnny Gargano! 🔥

The first official TLC (Tables, Ladders & Chairs) match in WWE history took place at SummerSlam 2000 between The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge & Christian, with Edge & Christian defending the WWF Tag Team Championships. The match quickly became one of the most influential tag team matches in wrestling history because of its creativity, nonstop pace, and the risks all six wrestlers were willing to take. In the end, Edge & Christian retained the championships.

The second TLC match happened less than a year later at WrestleMania X-Seven and is still considered by many fans and wrestlers to be one of the greatest WWE matches ever. The match once again featured The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge & Christian competing for the WWF Tag Team Championships. This time, however, each team had outside help at ringside. Matt and Jeff Hardy were accompanied by Lita, Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley were joined by Spike Dudley, and Edge & Christian had Rhyno in their corner. Edge & Christian ultimately retained the championships for the second straight TLC match.

TLC III took place on the May 24, 2001 episode of SmackDown! and expanded the formula even further. In addition to The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge & Christian, the team of Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit were added to the match as the reigning WWF World Tag Team Champions. 🔥

The history between Kenny Omega and Konosuke Takesh*ta goes back years before AEW. During their time together in DDT Pro-Wrestling, Takesh*ta often spoke about Kenny Omega being one of his biggest mentors and inspirations in wrestling. Omega played a major role in helping Takesh*ta get opportunities outside of Japan, and was the one who personally encouraged Tony Khan to take a serious look at signing him to AEW.

Takesh*ta made his AEW debut on April 9, 2021, during AEW’s first non-televised event, The House Always Wins. In his first match for the company, Takesh*ta teamed with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Michael Nakazawa in a 10 man tag team match against Death Triangle and the Sydal Brothers. Even though their team lost, it was the beginning of Takesh*ta’s connection with AEW and his first time sharing the ring alongside Omega under the AEW banner. It was officially confirmed that Takesh*ta had signed with AEW by November of 2022.

At Double or Nothing 2023, during the final moments of Kenny Omega’s match against the Blackpool Combat Club, Don Callis betrayed Omega and aligned himself with Konosuke Takesh*ta. Takesh*ta and Callis attacked Omega together, officially forming what would become the Don Callis Family and turning Takesh*ta heel. At All In 2023 inside Wembley Stadium, Takesh*ta teamed with Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson against The Golden Elite, made up of Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi and “Hangman” Adam Page. Takesh*ta pinned Omega during the match, giving his team the victory in one of the biggest moments of his AEW career. Following the event, Don Callis requested a singles match between Omega and Takesh*ta, which AEW President Tony Khan later made official for All Out.

At All Out 2023, Takesh*ta defeated Kenny Omega. He would continue this by pinning Omega again during a six man tag match at WrestleDream on October 1, 2023. After scoring three consecutive pinfall victories over Kenny Omega in a short period of time, Don Callis officially began referring to Konosuke Takesh*ta as “The Alpha.”

AJ Styles made his WWE debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble after finishing his final run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and what followed was one of the most successful debut years in WWE history. From the moment he arrived, Styles immediately became one of the top names on the roster and spent the entire year proving why he was already considered one of- actually, no, THE best wrestler in the world.

Styles would enter his first WWE feud, going against Chris Jericho that lead to his WrestleMania debut. Shortly after WrestleMania, AJ moved into the WWE Championship picture and challenged Roman Reigns for the title at both Payback and Extreme Rules.

Following his rivalry with Reigns, Styles entered a feud with John Cena that would become one of the defining feuds of 2016. AJ would turn heel and defeat Cena at Money in the Bank and SummerSlam. At Backlash in September 2016, AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose to win his first WWE Championship. With the victory, Styles became the first wrestler in history to hold the TNA World Championship, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Championship.

At Extreme Rules, The Shield (Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose) defeated Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista.) The night after Extreme Rules on RAW, Triple H immediately began targeting The Shield in every possible way. Dean Ambrose was forced to defend the United States Championship in a 20 man battle royal, where Sheamus ultimately captured the title, last eliminating Ambrose. Later in the night, The Shield battled The Wyatt Family in another chaotic six man war. Just as Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns appeared ready to put Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan away, Evolution appeared at ringside. The distraction allowed Bray Wyatt to pin Roman Reigns, handing The Shield a rare defeat. Evolution then assaulted all three men after the match and sent a message by delivering The Shield’s own trademark triple powerbomb to Reigns.

The following week, The Shield demanded another fight with Evolution. Triple H accepted the challenge, and the rematch was officially set for Payback in a No Holds Barred six man elimination match.

At Payback, The Shield once again defeated Evolution in dominant fashion, eliminating every member of the legendary group and proving that they were the most dangerous unit in WWE. On the next episode of RAW the next night, Batista, frustrated over constant failures and angry about not receiving the WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity he believed he was owed after winning the Royal Rumble, Batista quit Evolution and walked out on Triple H and Randy Orton.

Later that same night, Triple H and Orton confronted The Shield in the ring. Triple H claimed that Evolution’s loss at Payback had only been “Plan A” and promised that he still had a “Plan B.” Without warning, Seth Rollins cracked a steel chair across the back of Roman Reigns. Then another to Dean Ambrose. Rollins repeatedly destroyed his own brothers with chair shots while Triple H and Randy Orton watched with approval, joining The Authority and ending The Shield. 🔥
