[05/17/17]   It has been a long time since I've posted. I hope everyone is doing well and catching lots of big ones!

[04/30/15]   I am thinking of moving my guide service to Burkesville where the water is more consistent. If anyone is interested in buying my cabin in Jamestown, please message me.

[02/24/15]   Hey everyone, it's that time again. I'd like to increase the "Likes" for my page. This helps me spread the word about Cumberland River Adventures. My goal is to get to 2000 likes by the middle of March. For anyone that shares this page, I'll put their name in a drawing for a free fishing trip or weekend cabin rental once we reach 2000. So if you can, please share on your page or friend's pages and help me reach my goal. As always, thank you from Cumberland River Adventures!

[01/31/15]   I have been asked on a few occasions who is considered residents in Kentucky and who can purchase a resident license. The following is from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife's Website and Fishing/Hunting regulations:

"A resident is anyone who has established permanent and legal residence in Kentucky and resided here at least 30 days immediately prior to applying for a license."

Also, the following is from Kentucky Law 103 KAR 17:010. Residence:

"Section 1. Resident. "Resident" means any individual domiciled within Kentucky on the last day of the taxable year and includes any individual who spends more than 183 days in Kentucky and maintains a place of abode in Kentucky during this period. All other individuals are nonresidents"

Some people have been told that they must possess a Kentucky driver's license but I don't see anything in either definition that requires that.

If anyone has any information to the contrary, please let me know.

[01/18/15]   Spent a couple hours on the river tonight. Trout are biting good. I caught a 22 inch rainbow and a 21 inch brown. We've been catching this size on a regular basis on the days when the TVA does not generate all day.

Had a good night on the river. Josh, Jeff and I caught 2 limits of Rainbows, 4 keeper Walleye and one certified state trophy Brown Trout. I'm not a doctor but I know a good cure for cabin fever. Book a trip with Cumberland River Adventures.

Cumberland River Adventures

To all my Facebook friends, Cumberland River Adventures had an amazing year in 2014. We booked numerous fishing trips, several travelers used my cabin for vacations and family reunions, I made lots of new friends and I even caught a new State Record Brook Trout! All this would not have been possible without all your help and support. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all my friends for the help you have given me over the past year. As most of you know, being a fishing guide has always been a dream of mine. Because of your help and support, that dream is coming true. So on this last day of 2014, I would like wish each and every one of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year! I hope that all of you are able to achieve your dreams as well.

[12/25/14]   Merry Christmas to all the friends and followers of Cumberland River Adventures. 2014 was a great year and 2015 will be even better. I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your interest and your friendship. God bless you all!

[11/27/14]   I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and spends meaningful time with loved ones and friends!

[10/22/14]   I just spent the day fishing with Eugene Harding and his son Chad. We caught 3 limits of rainbow. It was a great day and a great trip. One of the things I like best about being a fishing guide is meeting so many good people!

[09/24/14]   Just wanted to share a testimonial/recommendation from a recent client. I had the pleasure of fishing with Alf and Elaine Fischer from Florida last week and we had a ball. Here is what Alf had to say:

"In mid-September of 2014, I was once again a less than enthusiastic participant at the annual gathering of my wife’s family. This year’s venue was Southeastern Kentucky at a rental property on Cumberland Lake. Since my wife and I usually go off and fish for a day, I made a reservation to fish with Chris. I had been impressed with his web-site. When he told me there would be no problem with me fly fishing from the bow of the boat and my wife using spinning tackle from the stern I booked our trip immediately. I was quite surprised at his willingness to accommodate such an arrangement.

I should say that I have been fly fishing, mostly in salt water, for more than few decades and have fished out of lodges and used guides in Panama, Honduras, Belize, Mexico and the Bahamas. In all that, I have had several guides I would rate as very good and very hard working but none... not one who was better or harder working than Chris Fugate. Take his air of quiet, calm, competence. Add the detailed knowledge and insights gained in years of fishing the Cumberland. Throw in his pleasant and pleasing personality. Then take the idea that Chris pretty well guarantees that you’ll want to quit before he does and you’ve got yourself lined up for a terriffic day. Be prepared to have a new friend. Besides all the foregoing, all his gear works!"

Rainbows are still biting tonight!

Nice rainbow are biting on the river!

Cumberland River Adventures wants to say Thank You for your service to our country!

[08/01/14]   If anyone is interested in catching some trout, now is the time. I have some Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday openings in the coming weeks. The Striper are still slow but the trout can be caught, especially on early morning trips.

State Record Brook Trout caught by Cumberland River Adventures owner Chris Fugate.

[07/12/14]   Due to the amount of water the TVA continues to generate the Striper fishing has not been very good this summer. However, now is a great time to plan a morning float trip for trout. The water is down in the mornings and there are plenty of Browns and Rainbows biting! I have some Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays available if you're interested in catching some trout!

[06/27/14]   Okay, some of you know this has been a challenging year for me. First, we had the never ending winter. Then, for some reason, the TVA is going to keep generating electricity until Lake Cumberland is a bird bath and then, my outboard went out.

Well, I'm glad to say the outboard trouble is over. I now have a brand new 90 HP four stroke Yamaha on the boat. Now if the TVA will slow down the generation schedule, we can get back to some serious fishing.

It is now official!

ANOTHER NEW STATE RECORD caught below Wolf Creek Dam! On May 1, 2014, Chris Fugate caught a Brook trout weighing 3.05 pounds and a length of 17.6 inches. The fish was caught on a rapala jerk bait. It was certified by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources as a new state record.

The brook trout I caught last night is the new Kentucky state record at 3.05 pounds. Just waiting on the Dept of Fish and wildlife to certify the catch. I had it weighed at the Bass Pro Shop in Russell Springs today.

Just another evening on the river.......check out the size of the trout we caught. The one brookie might be a state record. Will get it officially weighed tomorrow.

Hey folks, we're still trying to get our name out there. Please share our page if you haven't already and if you have already, please share it again! :) Now that warm weather is here, the fishing will be crazy good any day now.

[05/01/14]   Went to the dam tonight. Caught 4 nice white bass, 2 keeper brook trout (that I released) and 20 - 30 SKIPJACKS!!! Normally I wouldn't be too excited about catching skipjack but if they are here, the striper won't be too far behind them!

Two more photos from last year. Just some more examples of the fish that can be caught on the Cumberland.

[04/03/14]   Spring is finally here! The TVA has announced they will be taking Lake Cumberland up to normal summer level this year. This will make water levels on the river much more consistent which will lead to some awesome fishing.

Some of the wildlife you will see at Cumberland River Adventures!

Cumberland River Adventures is now legit. Thanks for the sign Johnny Wyatt!

Gary Redmon with a Kentucky Certified Trophy Brown from the Cumberland River!

Great day on the water with Cody Black and his friend Justin.

[03/20/14]   Last week I had the privilege of meeting and fishing with Adam Schlegel and his girlfriend Molly. They are great people! My son Josh and I had a ball getting to know them. Have you ever noticed how people that love the outdoors are some of the best people you will ever meet?

[03/20/14]   Spent a tough day on the water with David and JD Roy and their friend Andrew. High winds and steady barometric pressure led to a tough day but like they say, "A bad day fishing is better than a good day working". Thank you David, JD and Andrew. It was a pleasure meeting you!

Some nice Rainbow were biting today!
