From the inspiring words of Brinda Guha herself, JDF “planted the seed”. We thrived from the very beginning, and look at us now. Believe in “the possibility of a thriving ecosystem”.
We are so grateful for our growing family of artists, and their continued support with each year we grow.

Thank you Juanita Hurlburt for the feature!
For the past three years, Lamar has helped us get the word out about the festival in a way that really matters for a small nonprofit like ours. That visibility helps remind people that professional dance is happening right here in Jamestown, and that this festival was built for this community.
And of course, this kind of visibility is only possible because of the broader support behind the festival. Thank you to our funders and sponsors, including New York State Council on the Arts, NYS DanceForce, Mid Atlantic Arts, Chautauqua County, Live CHQ, Lifted - JTNY, New Neighbors Coalition, among many others, who help us present the festival at the level we envisioned, pay artists fairly, keep tickets accessible, and promote professional dance in Jamestown.
We are grateful for everyone helping this festival grow.

Hi friends! We recently hit 500 followers on this page, and we just wanted to say thank you.
On the surface, 500 may not seem like a huge number. But for a new dance festival in a region that has not historically had a large, established dance infrastructure, it means a lot. When Sukanya Burman Dance was first founded, and when the Jamestown Dance Festival was first imagined, we heard the question “𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙅𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙣?” more times than we can count.
𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
For a page created specifically to share and promote this festival, reaching 500 followers on Facebook, along with nearly 300 more on Instagram, feels genuinely meaningful. It tells us that this work is resonating. It tells us that people are paying attention. It tells us that dance can take root here.
Through the work of curating, presenting, and growing this festival, Jamestown is slowly but surely becoming part of a broader dance conversation. Artists from outside the region are beginning to recognize Jamestown as a place where dance can be presented, supported, and taken seriously. At the same time, local and regional artists are reimagining what their own artistic lives can look like from right here in the 14701, nestled within the most southern part of the 716.
We are grateful for every follow, share, comment, ticket purchase, conversation, and moment of encouragement along the way. And we look forward to continuing to grow the festival and the presence of dance in our community. More immediately, we cannot wait to see you at the Jamestown Dance Festival next week!

“𝐎𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥... 𝐈’𝐦 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧!”
Daryl here. Hearing remarks like this makes my little heart sing.
Each year, so much work goes into making sure people know this festival exists. Some of that happens online. Some of it happens out in the community. Sometimes it is a Facebook post, a video, a billboard, a conversation at the Farmers Market, or someone stopping by our table at a local event.
But the goal is always the same: 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.
We intentionally branded this as Jamestown’s Dance Festival. This is the people’s dance festival, created for this community, supported by this community, and performed right here in this community. Accessibility is a huge part of that belief. That is why we offer our DANCE4ALL2026 discount code, which provides 50% off festival tickets for active artists, students, veterans, individuals with disabilities, retirees/senior citizens, and anyone experiencing financial hardship. No questions asked - we trust you. We are also proud to be an Arts Access partner. Arts Access pass holders are eligible for free tickets to festival performances, helping make sure cost is not the reason someone misses out on experiencing this work.
We want you to know about the incredible artists we are bringing to Jamestown. We want you to feel invited, whether you come to one performance, a workshop, a film screening, a panel discussion, or the whole festival.
Come as you are. Discover new and different forms of dance. Bring a friend. Make a new one. And maybe find yourself in a room full of people who are discovering something new right alongside you.
