Jeannette Firefighters IAFF Local 78

We are excited to announce we've partnered with the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program! We currently have 20 children that need help waking up to an enjoyable Christmas morning. If you're interested in sponsoring a child please stop by the Fire House at 110 S 2nd St next to City Hall. We'll gladly answer any questions and you can pick a child from our Angel Tree.

We are now accepting applications for our upcoming Civil Service Test. The application packet can be picked up Monday-Friday at City Hall. All applications must be returned by 3pm on 7/1/2025. Additional information is listed below.

Thank you to Jeannette's newest restaurant, Family Fixin's LLC, for providing dinner to our duty crew! Their Grand Opening is this Friday January 12th, be sure to check them out!

IAFF Local 78 has partnered with the MDA Fill the Boot Foundation to raise funds for individuals who suffer from Muscular Dystrophy and ALS. All funds raised will be sent to the foundation to assist those who suffer from these medical issues. For the remaining days of July and all of August, you can find donation boots at Sobel's Obscure Brewery and Candy's Corner Deli. Both of these businesses have generously offered to be donation locations for this great cause. Members also plan on hosting several boot drives with the first being Saturday July 29th. Members can be found throughout the day at the intersection of N 4th St and Harrison Ave along with Chambers Ave and Brown Ave. Donations will also be accepted at the Fire House, 110 S 2nd St.

The MDA Foundation saves lives everyday which is made possible by donations from generous people like you. If you see our donation boots and our members during the boot drives, consider helping save a life by donating.

Be sure to stop and see us at the Glass City Heritage Festival downtown today from 11-4. We will have fire prevention materials, a truck on display and a chance for a kid to win a new bike of their choosing! Bike drawing will be free to enter (only one entry per child and they must be a resident of the city and 15 years old or younger to enter).

Neighbor rushes to get dogs out of burning home after explosion in Jeannette, no injuries reported The fire was already churning by the time Jeannette firefighters showed up within three minutes of the call.

UPDATE: with our cruise raffling failing to sale out, we have made the decision to go ahead and draw the winner number tonight. We are thankful for our supporters that purchased tickets and do not want to let you down at your chance to win….so all unsold tickets will become property of Local 78 and we will scratch on Facebook live at 9pm tonight. If the winning ticket was sold, local 78 will pay out the trip package to the winner!
