Jackson County AG Day for Students with Special Needs

This is our fifth year volunteering with this wonderful program with our ponies. Thank you so much for having us! And thank you to everyone who makes this possible!

A wonderful class of special needs students from Jackson County High School came for a visit to the farm! Thank you to our two legged and four legged volunteers!!! We couldn't have done this without you! 🐴 The students got to meet several of our wonderful horses🐥As well as one of our lovely chickens🐰 and our resident bunnies! They got to groom, paint, learn about horse care, and watch a riding demonstration

Got a call last night for a person in hospice that wants to pet a pony one last time 💕 We enlisted our smallest volunteer who fits very well inside houses🙏 on our way to spread some love via four tiny hoofs.

♥️Meet Nemo♥️
✨The rescue who now helps rescue others✨

Nemo is one of our incredible horses here at Ponies with a Purpose. He is known for his emotional intelligence, sweet personality, gentleness, and friendliness! Nemo is the first to greet everyone who visits the farm. While we don't know his exact breed, we are fairly confident he is part puppy as he has a habit of lovingly licking any hands within his reach.

What most people do not know is that our beloved Nemo was a rescue from back in 2020. We went to an auction to sell some old unneeded tack and saw this skin and bone bay pony in the line up of horses. We decided to bid on him to potentially offer him the final act of kindness (as he could barely stand or walk without stumbling over). To our surprise when we got him home, he began to eat and drink telling us there was still hope for him despite him shaking and nearly falling over every time he reached down for a bite. He was quickly named Nemo for his courage through adversity. Through a painstakingly slow process of careful feeding, vetting, and farrier work, Nemo is now what we like to call "pleasantly plump".

Now, he spends his nights on a grass field with friends and his days playing with children.... And yes we may occasionally paint hearts on his head, but we think he enjoys every minute of it🤣
