In honor of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Week, September 7–11, Helping People Succeed is celebrating the incredible people who show up every day to support individuals of all ages and abilities in living, learning, working, and thriving in their communities.

And we’re celebrating with a little help from our friends at Pei Wei in Stuart!

Join us September 10th from 5–9 PM, and 25% of qualifying orders will be donated back to Helping People Succeed to support our mission of empowering individuals and their families through comprehensive intervention and disability services that promote growth and belonging.

So, what exactly is a DSP?

A DSP is a Direct Support Professional, and they are so much more than a job title. They are advocates, encouragers, teachers, problem-solvers, mentors, and champions who help people reach their goals and live life to the fullest.

Come grab dinner, celebrate our DSPs, and help us turn challenges into success, one meal at a time!

We Came to Spell. We Left with the cutest little trophy. 🏆 🐝

Helping People Succeed took THIRD PLACE at the St. Lucie Chamber’s 20th Anniversary Adult Spelling Bee!

We showed up. We spelled. We had one mulligan. And then we met our nemesis:

VORLAGE.

Excuse me… WHAT EVEN IS THAT WORD?!

Apparently, it’s German for template, pattern, draft, or model. And it’s also a skiing term.

Can you use it in a sentence?

“After hearing ‘Vorlage,’ the HPS team leaned forward in confusion and said, “F” and quickly hit with the bell for a Third Place victory.

We may not have won, but THIRD PLACE + one mulligan = SUCCESS!

Congrats to the St. Lucie Chamber on 20 years! We’ll be back and we’re studying our German. 😂

Big shout out to our new friends at Power Financial Credit Union for sponsoring our team “Bee-lieve to Succeed”!

At Helping People Succeed, we believe supporting our team means investing in the whole person.

During our latest Staff Midday Mingle, our team enjoyed a lunch generously provided by Seacoast Bank and our Board Member, Marco Violante, while also gaining valuable knowledge about financial wellness.

Our team participated in a Fundamentals of Credit session led by Clover providing practical information about credit, financial health and making informed financial decisions.

Because success isn't just about what happens at work. We want our team to have the knowledge, resources and tools they need to feel confident and successful at home, too.

A big thank you to Seacoast Bank, Marco and Clover for investing in our HPS team and helping us create opportunities for our staff to learn, grow and succeed.

When we invest in our people, we strengthen our entire community.

Last Thursday, we had the opportunity to present to the Fort Pierce Rotary and share more about the programs and services Helping People Succeed provides to individuals and families throughout the Treasure Coast.

We are incredibly grateful for the $2,000 donation presented to Interim CEO Christine Storm and Cheree Ramirez in support of our upcoming Pinot & Picasso event.

One of the most meaningful moments came at the end of our presentation when two Rotarians shared their personal stories about how Helping People Succeed has impacted their lives. Hearing firsthand how our work makes a difference is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

We are looking forward to becoming Fort Pierce Rotarians and joining a group of people who genuinely care about educating the community, connecting people with resources and making a difference.

Thank you, Fort Pierce Rotary, for welcoming us and for all you do for our community. We are excited for what we can accomplish together as we continue Turning Challenges into Success!

We need YOU to help us spread the word!

Helping People Succeed is excited to have a FREE Nonprofit Booth at Market on Main, and we’re looking for an outgoing, friendly volunteer to help us connect with the community.

Love meeting people and making a difference? Come share our mission, talk about our programs and help more people discover how HPS is Turning Challenges into Success!

Interested? Contact Cheree at [email protected].

Community Helping Community

Sometimes making a difference starts with simply seeing a need and asking, “How can I help?”

Meet Jessie Clifford, a valued member of the Helping People Succeed team who has served as a Case Manager for the past four years. Jessie also spent time working with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, and her love for animals has always been close to her heart.

When more than 40 severely neglected Border Collies were rescued in our community, Jessie saw another group in need of support: the shelter staff working tirelessly around the clock to care for them.

She reached out to her own community and asked if people would contribute a few dollars toward meals for the Humane Society team. In just six hours, Jessie raised more than $1,200, and the support continues to grow.

Those donations will provide meals, lunches and goodies for the staff throughout the month as they care for these animals and work to give them the safety, comfort and second chance they deserve.

Jessie’s gesture is a beautiful reminder that community is about coming together, especially during difficult times. Sometimes support looks like a donation. Sometimes it looks like a meal. And sometimes it looks like simply saying, “We see you, and we’re here for you.”

We are proud to have people like Jessie on our team who lead with compassion, kindness and a heart for helping others, whether they have two legs or four.

Community helping community. That’s what success looks like.

Every Day Is an Opportunity to Succeed

At Helping People Succeed, our Adult Day Program is about creating opportunities for our clients to learn, grow, connect, and thrive.

Through classes like Self-Advocacy, Money Management, Home Economics, Social Wellness, Healthy Living, and Physical Fitness, our clients build practical skills that help foster confidence and greater independence in everyday life.

But it doesn’t stop in the classroom. Our clients are active members of their communities, giving back through volunteer opportunities with House of Hope Thrift Store and Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, and more.

Every day brings a balance of learning, friendship, community connection, and fun.

Because everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute, belong, and succeed.

Turning Challenges into Success.

Making Music. Making Memories. Making an Impact.

Helping People Succeed’s Music & Play groups are making a little more noise thanks to the incredible generosity of Women Supporting the Arts!

Their generous donation of drums has brought so much excitement and joy to the children as they explore rhythm, creativity, self-expression, and the simple joy of making music together.

We were especially delighted to welcome Nancy, who had the opportunity to see the impact firsthand as the children enthusiastically played their new drums. Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that when our community invests in our children, we create opportunities for them to learn, grow, connect, and succeed.

Thank you, Women Supporting the Arts, for supporting Music & Play and helping us create more opportunities for children to discover their potential through music.

Your generosity is helping turn challenges into success, one beat at a time.
