| We start today with the Overhead Squat. Think of this as building your Structural Foundation with the overhead stability and core strength required to stand tall and carry a message. Then, we move into CrossFit 12.3. This 18-minute AMRAP is an Archive. Each rep is a story told; each round is a chapter preserved. We aren’t just working out; we are building a legacy of consistency together. Now, let’s find the rhythm and get to work!

| JCFIT WEEK AHEAD (Week of February 16-21)
We’re stepping into the third week of Black History Month and continuing our themed Mondays honoring A Century of Black History Commemorations. Each Monday this month connects training to history, endurance, and the discipline of showing up, and we carry that intention with us all week.

Tuesday we celebrate Lunar New Year with a special Fire Horse workout. It’s fast, explosive, full of energy and a reminder that movement is global, cultural, and something we get to share together as a community.

Programming this week continues to lean into Open prep: barbell cycling under fatigue, repeatable sprint intervals, gymnastics stamina, and engine-building pieces. You’ll see classic benchmark-style structures, OTM work, and partner fun, all designed to sharpen skills while building confidence heading into our Intramural Open.

Behind the scenes we’re also in the final stretch of prep for the JCFit Intramural Open. Team draft is this Thursday the 19th•👀. The energy is building and we cannot wait to see this floor turn into friendly chaos.

🚨Jump Rope Skill Seminar - Saturday the 21st at JCFit JSQ, 10:30am Only a few spots left. This is your chance to level up double unders and crossover skills before the Open. If you’ve been saying “P’Il work on them eventually”... this is eventually.

Huge congratulations to Coach Kelsey for stepping back onto the competition mats this weekend in Philly. She fought through a tough, evenly matched bracket and showed real grit. Anyone who’s competed knows how hard it is to walk out there, adapt in real time, and keep pushing, and she did exactly that. We’re proud of you, Coach. Showing up is never small.

This community keeps proving what it means to support each other, in training, in competition, and in life. Let’s carry that energy into another strong week.

| about last week • Last Sunday, Sam Gong competed at the Lift Your Heart Out Olympic Weightlifting Meet hosted at Salus Barbell Club in Middletown — and he delivered an outstanding performance.

Sam placed first in his weight class, putting up some seriously strong lifts and showcasing the hard work he’s been putting in. As a proud member of the JCFit Oly Club and Power Hour, Sam continues to represent his team with focus and determination.

Coached by Taylar and Janine, Sam stepped onto the platform ready to raise the bar — and he did exactly that. This meet was another strong step toward his 2026 goals.

Huge congratulations again, Sam! Let’s see what’s next. 💪🏽🏋️‍♂️

| About Last Week • Shoutout to the JCFit Crew

While attempting to compile a list of people to thank, Rebecca paused and said,
“Wow 🥹 Now I’m crying. What a community ❤️”

That right there is what sets us apart and sets the tone for everything we build.

We rallied behind Rebecca’s vision to create an opportunity for her students, and the Boricua Beast Mode Fundraiser was a huge success because of it.

This is more than a gym. This is community. 💛

| Disclosure: We tried asking random questions for both Jay and Dawn… but it definitely didn’t end up that way 🤣

There are a bunch of couples at JCFit and we love it! It brings built-in accountability — and maybe just a little healthy competitiveness too.

Shoutout to Jay and Dawn for representing the couples, especially for the JSQ crew. This athletic duo has been part of JCFit for over 3 years, constantly pushing each other to be their best — and it shows.

Stronger together, always 💪

Amanda is absolutely crushing her health and fitness goals with an incredible 53-week streak at JCFit! 💪🔥

Staying consistent isn’t easy — it takes commitment, discipline, and heart — but the results speak for themselves.

Last year, Amanda stepped outside her comfort zone and completed her first CrossFit competition as part of a trio team. What an achievement! 👏

Now the question is… what will she use all that strength and conditioning for this year? 👀

Amanda, we’re so grateful for your consistency, positivity, and the way you lead by example. Thank you for being such an important part of the JCFit community!

Squat to Roll Back to Stand 🔄
Today’s challenge is all about testing mobility in your hips and ankles. The deeper and more controlled your squat, the better your mechanics will be when you start adding weight. And don’t forget—this move is a sneaky core test, too.

| JCFIT WEEK AHEAD (Feb 9-14)
🏈 Happy Super Bowl Sunday!! We’re stepping into Week 2 of Black History Month, continuing to celebrate 100 years of Black history commemorations and honoring the endurance, progress, and discipline that brought us here. Each Monday this month connects training with history, and we carry that intention with us all week.

Before we even talk programming, we have to shout out this community.
• This weekend was a perfect example of what JCFit is about. You showed up big for Rebecca’s fundraiser workout, helping raise funds for her Experience the Experience initiative and turning movement into impact. The energy in the room was unreal.
• We’re also celebrating Coach Kelsey bringing home a win at the Albany Grappling & BJJ Championship on Saturday, and the cheering crew showing up Sunday for Sam’s first Olympic weightlifting meet, where he placed first in his weight class with some seriously strong lifts. Watching our people step onto competition floors and knowing this gym is behind them? That’s the good stuff. We’re smiling ear to ear. This is community in action!

This week we carry that momentum forward. Training continues to build on the strength and barbell cycling we’ve been developing, while we start sharpening focus as we move closer to the JCFit Intramural Open kicking off in less than three weeks. Continue to expect intentional lifting cycles, smart intensity, and opportunities to keep dialing in skills.

Reminder: Our Jump Rope Skill Seminar is right around the corner (Saturday, February 21 at the JSQ location). If double unders and crossovers are on your goals list, don’t sleep on this. Spots are limited.

We train hard.
We show up for each other.

| Jump rope is a skill. And like any skill... it gets easier when you actually learn how to practice it.

We’re hosting a Double Under &
Crossover Jump Rope Seminar at our JCFit
JSQ location and this is for anyone who wants to move smoother, waste less energy, and finally feel confident with a rope in their hands. Whether you’re chasing your first double under or trying to clean up crossovers, I’m breaking it all down with drills, coaching, and take-home work you can keep using after the seminar.

Bring your own rope if you have one; learning is always better with the equipment you’ll actually use. We’ll have ropes available, but custom ropes are limited. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, grab an RXSG rope before the seminar and come ready to dial things in (Use my code J9RXSG for a discount 👀)
