| Our tradition after MURPH is to kick off the summer season with an Ice Cream Social. It’s a chance for everyone to relax, enjoy some amazing ice cream from , and spend time together outside of the workout.
This year’s social was especially meaningful because it also gave us the opportunity to celebrate the engagement of two of our very own coaches, Janine and Taylar.
Our community is about more than fitness— it’s about supporting and celebrating one another’s successes, accomplishments, and life milestones. We were honored to share in this special moment and celebrate the love and commitment of these two wonderful humans.
Congratulations, Janine and Taylar! We are so excited for this next chapter in your journey together. 💞🍦🎉🥂

Today, we take on Murph — the workout named in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life in service to this country.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, a day to pause, reflect, and honor the men and women who gave everything so we could live freely. At JCFit, we don’t take that lightly.
Every rep of Murph is dedicated to them. See you bright and early tomorrow morning.
And yes, there will be an ice cream social immediately after Murph. You’ve earned it. 🍦
After Monday’s challenge, this week is intentionally dialed back. We’re in full deload mode. Lower volume, quality movement, and letting your body absorb everything you’ve put into it over the past few weeks. Tuesday brings a Tabata core and rowing piece to shake out the legs. Wednesday is Push Press strength paired with our metcon “Double Vision.” Friday features loaded step-ups and a fast AMRAP sprint. Saturday, we close the week with a full HYROX simulation.
Before we look ahead, we have to celebrate with a huge congratulations to Rachelle and Fran who ran the half-marathon in Boston today! We are so proud of you both! And a special shoutout to Fran. That was his first marathon, and by all accounts, he absolutely sprinted and crushed it!
Speaking of running, we have an army of JCFit athletes competing in HYROX NYC this week and beyond, and we could not be more fired up for them. Please show them some love!

💞Last, but not least, congratulations to Coach Taylar and Coach J9 on their engagement! This beautiful moment took place Saturday at the United Grid League season opener, where the Ft. Lauderdale Lions captured their first win of the season. Wishing the happy couple a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and championship moments together! 💍🦁

| Join us for our annual ICE CREAM SOCIAL after MURPH — well, about an hour after so we have time to set up. Please invite your significant other and kids! It’s the perfect time to relax and socialize after a tough workout. Looks like this weekend may be a little soggy, but ice cream should help fix that.
Please let me know if you’ll be attending so we can make sure we have enough ice cream for everyone — especially since Coach J9 tends to keep a close eye on it. 🍦

| JCFIT WEEK AHEAD | WEEK OF 5/18
The weather is turning, the energy is high, and Memorial Day is right around the corner, which means this week we are putting the finishing touches on your Murph prep. We loaded heavy over the past few weeks to build the strength base, and now we are sharpening the edges and tapering into deload week. Think of this week as your last big investment before the big day. ☀️
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we want to keep that intention alive as we head into the warmer months. Think about why you show up, and use that as energy this week. Every session is a deposit into your mental clarity, your resilience, and your ability to handle whatever life throws at you outside these walls.
This week we kick things off Monday with a repeat strength benchmark, build through midweek with heavy squats and running outside, hit technical Olympic lifting on Friday, and close the week out with a partner workout on Saturday. Full breakdown above. ☝️
Before we look ahead, we have to look back at this past weekend, because the JCFit family showed out.
Coach Christian and Coach Kelsey
represented JCFit at the Barbells & Beers co-ed partner competition at 908 Athletics in Berkeley Heights this past Saturday and they absolutely CRUSHED it. We could not be more proud of them and all of the cheering behind them! Shout out to all that showed up to get them through the day!
And on the pavement side Kyle Fleming laced up and took on the Brooklyn Half Marathon this weekend! Huge congratulations!!!!

| Proud is not enough to express how we feel about our two coaches representing JCFit at 908’s Barbells & Beers! They gave 100% and supported each other through all 4 events.
Shoutout to Coach Christian for competing in his first CrossFit competition with barely a year of experience. He quickly learned how to pace himself, adapt to new movements, and compete alongside a partner.
And speaking of partners, Coach Kelsey stepped up in a huge way by supporting and leading throughout today’s competition. Great communication, clear expectations, and finishing every event strong was their goal — and they accomplished that and more.
Coach Kelsey has put in the work to master her rope climbs, chest-to-bars, and muscle-ups, and it showed all day long!
Final Results in the RX Division:

👏 They finished 24th out of 48 teams in the RX division!
