This is why I love this sport. Moments like this are reason why I started this team and love being a coach. It hasn't even been a full year since had back surgery after a horrible back injury on a deadlift attempt at a competition. I picked her up from the hospital and felt so helpless watching her cry after being told she needed surgery. I knew she would heal physically, but I had to help her heal mentally and not be scared to deadlift again. We have worked slow and methodically...and here we are 🔥 400lbs for an all-time PR and she didn't even know what was on the bar.
showing just how much fight and heart she has grinding out her meet max from a DEFICIT for 3 sets of 3 reps!! She will definitely be ready for DT Nationals!
The smile at the end says it all 😁 pulled 295x6 for 2 sets with way more in the tank. She asked if she could pull 300lbs which was her goal in 6 weeks (YEAH RIGHT...I KNEW BETTER)! I said, "No, you call pull 315lbs...for 3-5 reps..." She hesitated for a second then said "Okay!" A little over 6 months since her back injury (blown disc) and here we are 🔥 THIS IS RELENTLESS!
showing she hasn't lost much on bench since back surgery less than a year ago with a easy 175lbs AFTER hitting sets of 10 on her working sets! We took things slow due to limited ROM with her setup, and she has taken everything in stride! She hasn't touched over 135lbs, and her strength is still there!
