Just a few of the many Eastern Oregon Care Boxes we’ve been able to put together! 💙 There are plenty more photos, updates, and thank-yous still to come as we continue getting these resources into the hands of local families and community members.
A very special shoutout to Ana aka JDCCPRD’s Co Director in charge of Special Programming efforts behind this initiative.
If you know Ana, you also know that recognition is not something she seeks out. More often than not, when given the choice, she would much rather stay behind the scenes and let the program, the community, and the people being served be the focus. But this is one of those times where it feels important to recognize just how much work has gone into making this happen.
This initiative simply would not have been possible without her. From the beginning, Ana had this idea and it took on a life of its' own. She has personally handled the intake process, coordinated and secured donations and products, built relationships with businesses and organizations, organized supplies, single-handedly assembled every box, coordinated distributions, and delivered boxes and other items directly to recipients. She has even driven all over the state to pick up donations and bring resources back to Grant County that might not otherwise make their way here. And when someone doesn’t have transportation or a way to pick their box up, she is the first person to say, “I can bring it to them.”
There are countless hours behind programs like this that most people never see—late nights spent organizing, communicating, completing paperwork, packing boxes, tracking resources, and figuring out how to make limited dollars and donated items stretch as far as possible. Ana has carried this initiative from an idea in it's infancy into something tangible that is now directly serving people in our community, and we think that is pretty darn special.
We are especially grateful to the Frontier Early Learning Hub for being a major driving force behind this initiative by providing the bulk of the financial support that helped make it possible.
