Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover what discipline, belonging and steady mentorship can awaken in them.

That is why Forge of Light Foundation provides scholarships for young people whose families may not otherwise be able to afford martial arts training.

The scholarship opens the door, but what happens afterward matters most. Students are invited into a community where they are expected to show up, practice responsibility, work through difficulty and grow alongside others.

This is not simply help with tuition or equipment. It is an opportunity to begin something that can shape a young person’s life.

Summer went fast. Vacation is over. The mats are waiting.

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll come back next week—this is the week.

You don’t get better when you don’t show up. There’s no secret and no shortcut. You have to train.

I’m down to 185 pounds and getting ready to compete. I’m showing up, pushing the pace, and calling every Alliance student back to the room.

Jiu-jitsu can give a young person more than a sport.

It can give them a place where people know their name, notice when they show up, and expect something from them. A place to be challenged, make friends, learn to handle setbacks, and become more confident in who they are.

The Forge of Light Foundation is now accepting applications for youth scholarships at Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Juneau.

These scholarships help young people get on the mat—but that is only the beginning. We want them to find good mentors, take on responsibility, learn to lead, and discover that they have something valuable to offer the people around them.

As Engines of Purpose develops, young people will also have opportunities to learn practical skills, listen to the needs of their community, and find meaningful ways to serve.

We are building a path from training, to confidence, to responsibility, and eventually to real contribution.
