Congratulations to our inaugural class of NHSDA inductees: Lyra, Abigail, Shaina, and Autumn! JDT is proud to sponsor a secondary chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, through its membership in the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). Candidates must have a minimum cumulative academic GPA of 3.5, and exemplify outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and achievement in the study of dance. High school juniors and seniors meeting the criteria, are eligible to apply.
We are thrilled to celebrate and recognize two juniors and two seniors, in our very first year as a chapter sponsor. As JDT students, these dancers log countless hours in the studio, training upwards of 1,600 hours of ballet during their high school years alone, not including rehearsals and performances; and each of these dancers is also a current or former member of our dance team (tack on another 60 hours of class time, per semester!) Performances, rehearsals, community engagements, outreach, fundraising events and appearances, collaborations, teaching/assisting, choreographing, and attending summer intensives and competitions, (WHEW!) are all part and parcel of what serious, dedicated dance students do, day in and day out. Thank you, Lyra, Abigail, Shaina, and Autumn, for your scholarship, leadership, dedication, and talent. You are true advocates for yourselves, JDT, and dance education! Be proud!
