Looking for a team that need a benchwarmer and possible catcher! if so let me know! Thank you!
The world lost an amazing guy last week and the Island Pub lost a great friend.
Dean Van Dusseldorp may have left Juneau a while ago, but he continued to meet his team in Utah for the Huntsman's Games and in Nevada for motorcycle rides with Dennis Powers. Dean (Deano) was a sweet, sweet man with the best smile and a RockStar Shortstop. He is missed.
This is from his daughter Faye who followed him everywhere. She was always by his side and in the dugout when Island Pub played.
Dean VanDusseldorp, 67, passed away February 12, 2022 in North Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his family. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was born September 28, 1954 in Fort Hood, Texas to Ralph Van Dusseldorp and Sharon (Heggen) Van Dusseldorp.
He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, graduating from Iowa City High School in 1972. He attended the University of Iowa where he met his wife, Karen Evans. They married and moved to Juneau, Alaska in 1977. In 1989, Dean and Karen welcomed a daughter, Faye. Dean built a career in computer programming for the State of Alaska, holding many positions, culminating with his work for the Alaska Marine Highway System. He retired in 2009 and relocated to North Las Vegas. Dean was a talented athlete and an avid sports fan. He loved playing softball and was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan. Since the day he received his drivers license, Dean loved to be behind the wheel of a fast car and on the open road, resulting in frequent travel.
Dean is survived by his beloved daughter, Faye Patterson (Jim), granddaughters, Eleanor VanDusseldorp and Matilda Schumm, North Las Vegas, Nevada, mother, Sharon Van Dusseldorp (William Peak), Iowa City, Iowa, brother, David Van Dusseldorp (Debbie Beermann) Iowa City, Iowa, sister, Susan Hamada (Craig), Draper, Utah, step-mother, Marilyn Johnson, Tucson, Arizona, and a large, loving extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Van Dussseldorp, and his wife, Karen VanDusseldorp.
Dean will be remembered for his quick wit, sharp intellect, easy laugh, and the twinkle in his eye.

Good evening all, I missed the deadline to sign up for summer softball. Is there any teams that need a "semi-okay" player?
Below is the link to the process in getting your team registered. Please read it carefully especially the league registration terms and waiver section.
I know it’s winter here but an Anchorage co-ed team is looking for two ladies to go to wolds in Vegas December 4-6. They are playing E division. I am going on a Colorado team and playing with my sisters team. I can help with housing arrangements if needed. They are looking for infield and a catcher. Let me know if anyone has questions or is interested
