juneausoftball.com We hope you all are recovering from the 2020 season and have been safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. JSA Board of Directors would like to take this time to send condolences to the family of Brianna Hartley. We lost a friend, fellow player and wonderful soul on December 23, 2020. Brianna passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home.
Brianna brought the happiest energy to the ballpark. She wasn’t consumed so much with a competitive nature as she was the team comradery and enjoying time on and off the field with friends at the ballpark. Her love for her teammates began in the bowling alley. Joe Deluna from Joe’s Team Sucks brought his top level bowling buddies to the field and Lo and Behold those kids can play softball too.
Thanks Joe for getting Brianna and others off the lanes and into the sun to play in the dirt. Brianna’s laugh could be heard around the ballpark which instantly brought more smiles. Her bright leggings were just another level of fun added to her game.
Blain and Shilo have lost a life partner and daughter. Nathan has lost his mother but we are all better for knowing Brianna. Please keep Brianna and her family in your thoughts as they move forward through this difficult time. She will be missed on so many levels.

Juneau Sports Association
Pioneers of Softball, 2020
Juneau Sports Association is pleased to announce the honorees for 2020.
Pete Carran is honored in the Player Category. Imperial Saloon is honored in the Sponsor Category. The honorees have dedicated decades to promoting the Juneau Sports Association and its adult softball program.
Due to COVID precautions JSA was unable to present these awards in person. Please join us in recognizing and congratulating them for their contribution to softball on and off the field.
JSA has enjoyed Imperial Saloon and its sponsorship of Men’s, Women’s and Coed leagues both for season and tournaments for 20+ years. We are grateful for their support of our association. Imperial has produced a few hundred of top notch players and brought their fans along for the ride. Thank you for your longstanding support and assurance of the continuation of local softball leagues. Please stop in to the Imperial and thank Shelly Hurt for her dedication and endless support for the game. We can’t say enough how much we appreciate you but we can try to show you!!
Pete Carran and Rufus have been with us on and off the field for so long we can’t remember a time without them. Rufus has left the field, but the memories will remain. The insistence of you throwing the Frisbee for him while you chatted with Pete after a game are still visible. Pete, thank you for being the most persistent Utility Player a team could ask for. Wherever a manager needs you that’s where you play the hardest. No one gives 110% like Pete. Pitcher, Shortstop, 2nd Base, OF and manager extraordinaire. He was awarded All Tourney and Tournament MVP more than once in his softball career. Thank you for your energy, great expectations of your teammates and encouragement to do better. You are a great sport and best looking dude in the dugout!
Thanks so much!

JSA Board of Directors would like to take this time to honor Carl Lewis and send condolences to his family. Carl passed October 4, 2020.
We give gratitude to Carl for his decades of play, umpiring and taking time to serve on the JSA Board. Carl managed his coed team to Rainball Championship in 1992 and was one of 5 family members to play on ABC Center’s coed team for several years.
Carl sat on the JSA Board as a Director during the late 90’s and early ‘00’s. Carl helped setup the early games for tournament play @ Savikko Park, always poking Traci for being a bit too spunky in the 7am hour. He helped make policy, rarely missing a meeting or the need to volunteer.
Carl will be remembered for his fair umpiring. He was a sound umpire in his calls and always let you rib him for unfavorable calls before moving on to the next pitch. He worked beyond the call of duty.
Carl and Lee have been a constant at the ballfields for 40 years. We will miss him dearly, thank the family for sharing him with us and send him off on a Swing and a Prayer.

We encourage members to respect the difficult decision made by our sister league and look forward to picking up the tradition of Mudball stronger than ever next year. 🥎❤️

Also attached is our 2020 New and Updated Rules Summary page. There are a few big changes this year so please make sure to take a look at the document. The complete 2020 JSA Rulebook can be found on our website at www.juneausfotball.com.
We will be running the concessions stand throughout the tournament. JSA will be marking the ground for the line to concessions to encourage social distancing. We are strongly encouraging that all transactions at concessions be done with a credit/debit card if at all possible.
The bleachers on all of the fields have been marked to help with social distancing of spectators. The markings are the places where you would sit.
Please make sure to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding the tournament.
