While it is officially winter with yesterday’s snowfall, climbers have something to look forward to next spring. You can kickstart your spring training with a 2 month membership pass for you and a friend, now available for bidding in our auction.

Last week we met with Jessie Palomino, manager of The Rock Dump Indoor Climbing Gym, to collaborate on a special project. Chances are if you’re an outdoor climber then you’ve spent some time at the Tee Harbor boulders. As many Trail Mix crew members are also climbers, this was a fun end of season project for us.

Before getting to work, Jessie explained that “this is one of the most concentrated climbing areas in Juneau. There are 20 something boulders up here and it’s really sweet, super easy access, and beautiful on sunny days. You can see eagles, ravens, and all that stuff. We’re super excited to have Trail Mix come in and help clean up some of the ways around and make it a little bit more comfortable getting around the woods up here.”

Crew members cleared more than 5 blowdowns that were littering the trail and approaches to bouldering problems. They also brushed back branches overhanging the trail. We’re excited for more collaboration between Juneau’s climbing community and Trail Mix in the near future.

Crash pad rentals now available at The Rock Dump!

Juneau has a plethora of bouldering opportunities, many of which just minutes from the road. Enjoy boulders ranging from V0 up to VHard. Whatever area you climb there is fun and adventure to be had!!!
