Hank Harmon Public Range (HHPR) is an important recreational resource that serves many residents throughout Juneau. The range operates with very limited annual funding — currently $5,000 — which must cover essential needs such as maintenance and snow plowing. Snow plowing is paid for by the HHPR board through a private contractor, not by the city.
Much of the upkeep at the range is supported by dedicated volunteers who not only contribute their time but often donate personal funds to complete repairs and improvements that keep the facility safe and accessible.
As community discussions continue around budget reductions, it’s important for Juneau residents to stay informed about how changes could affect local recreational spaces like HHPR. Community awareness and involvement play a vital role in maintaining resources that see such widespread use.
If HHPR is a place you value, please stay engaged, stay informed, and support efforts that help maintain this important public space for everyone.
Please contact the assembly at [email protected] with your concerns TODAY! The budget meeting is on Wednesday night.
