Aloha classmates, ʻohana, and friends. I hope everyone is safe and doing okay. With the recent heavy rains and flash flooding across the North Shore and other parts of Oʻahu and Maui, my heart is with all who have been affected.
Sending prayers of love, strength, and healing during this difficult time. May everyone find safety, support, and comfort as we recover together. 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Much love always,
Renee (Nani) Kai 💞

From Lori Trende’s family today (7/21/2025)
We will be scattering her ashes Sunday.
The group will meet at Ted's bakery at 10 am and caravaning to the beach. The beach is described as the one between Sunset and Turtle Bay Hilton. We are not planning anything other than scattering the ashes. This is where Lori's mother and Grandparents were scattered
Lori's sister and Nephew will scatter some of her ashes at wiamia Bay at a later date and I assume privately.
It was a massive (my word) heart attack, not drowning as earlier reported.
You can share this information and invite with friends and classmates

I'm not sure if anyone has confirmed on the October cruise I posted earlier? Please let me know if you have! Pauni Tapu asked if we would like to join up on the cruise they're coordinating. She's inviting any Kahuku Alumn which might be even better! Let me know what you think. Can call or text me (808) 218-8044.

To my Class of 1980 classmates, I’m sorry to bear bad news, but wanted to let you know that one of our classmates, Lori Trende Landgraver, passed away April 30. Lori lived in Portland, OR, but was visiting Kona on vacation and did a nighttime manta ray dive. Five minutes into the dive she wasn’t feeling well and returned to the boat, became non-responsive and later died. Lori grew up in Sunset Beach and I will remember her passion for the school newspaper, her fierce intellect, and our many school bus rides to and from school together.
Her family is arranging a memorial service in Portland and will eventually scatter her ashes on the North Shore. I will post details here once they come available.
With aloha and warm memories,
Darlene Narvaez Blakeney
