Ken Zen Karate of Kona

It began as a personal journey (first awakened from the TV series "Kung Fu") and became of enough interest to dedicate an 11 x 12 foot space in our New York basement to my own Hombu Dojo, then upon moving to Hawaii and with only one student signed up to opening my own nearly 1000 square foot space in Kona Hawaii (Ken Zen Karate of Kona).

I am please to announce that after the first two years of growing the dojo, we now have over 40 very active members most of whom train 3-4 days a week. I have recently refreshed the space and added much needed a/c and have signed a 5 year lease for the space.

This journey through karate and the martial arts has not only given me a piece of my life but now allows me to share my inspiration and commitment with others an build a community of like minded souls.

From a recent promotion test. The dojo is alive and well and nearly a year old.

This past Saturday, 10 weeks after opening the doors to Ken Zen Karate of Kona, we had our first group promotion test. Two adults and three youth presented and passed with flying colors. Here are a few photos of the event.
