One hell of an accomplishment pulled off. 3.5 hours on 12lb fly rod tippet and a pending world record. Can’t do stuff like this without great crew. . .

A picture is worth a 1000 words or in this case 100k. By no means is this a great photo but it was good enough to show me how this fish wasn’t hooked. Knowing the odds were against us we played It right and my angler and crew did an unreal job killing her. Some fish come easy this one took everything we had. Nine tags and a 638 in the big island marlin tournament.

Pat and Rachel had a pretty good trip with 9 blues in 3 days Rachel’s fish went 873.

5 blues 6 spearfish 2 onos and a mahi. The malolo was busy today.

Five days we raised 30 billfish including Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Spearfish. Ian Keinath hooked seven, got three to leader and boated two. He hooked and landed a Striped Marlin on 20lb tippet and a Spearfish on 8lb tippet. The Spear took us 56 minutes and fought like a large Blue Marlin would have on much heavier tackle. Tracy Epstein had to pull multiple angles in order to get the fish to respond and pull a large belly of line up from the deep. Great angling by Ian and awesome team work from all. Ian hooked billfish on fly every day and hooked a slam which is a great accomplishment on its own.
