With the wall ropes for twists. A standing twist can be tricky. If the lower body isn't strongly aware, the twist may not feel so good; it may feel haphazard to be in, not fully achieved to enjoy.

The wall ropes support the body in alignment, and the body engages fully. Now there's MOVEMENT: freely, deeply, expansively, easily - you fill in the blank.

Make it simple. Make it taste good. Make it whole.

Meals can be quick and delicious - minimal prep, minimal ingredients, FOOD with FLAVOR.

Notice what you choose as your fuel. Then notice what you can produce on that fuel.

Using a chair doesn't always mean the pose gets easy. Often times using the chair lets you work more deeply. Because of its assistance, you can play at the boundaries of your practice. Your body makes more effort, develops more strength, becomes more stable. Once embodied, YOU are stronger, more stable, capable of effective effort.

The paradox of the standing practice is that it begins lying on the ground.

Why? Well, the plumb line is easier to feel in the horizontal plane; simply lying flat, the alignment of your body is evident. In this horizontal relationship to gravity, you begin to lengthen & strengthen muscles, without bearing weight.

Ready to go vertical, maybe with support? Props are perfect to help get your feet under you. Still lengthen & strengthen your muscles.

Now, take the props away - same actions in the same positions, but all on your own. Did you use your time lying down on the floor to get your mind into your muscles, because you need that connection here.

Bring back the props, but this time to develop more strength and balance, to take your mind into an even broader awareness of your body. This no place for distractions.

Finally, your standing practice can be propped to be restorative, and you realize you can stand in restful positions.
