Hawaii Island’s only Salt Farm. Located on a beautiful 7 acre oceanfront site, we hand harvest Haw But the salt isn’t ready yet!

Kona Sea Salt is located on the Kona coast of Hawaii, the “Big Island” in the Hawaiian island chain. We pride ourselves in producing a renowned sea salt, which continues to earn accolades from top executive chefs and fitness experts for its delicate flavor and rich trace mineral content. Kona Sea Salt is entirely hand tended from the moment our deep seawater arrives on site. After about four weeks

We have been waiting for Coco, our kōlea bird to come back to Hawai’i and it just did! That makes us so happy to see Coco back safely! Kōlea make a remarkable journey thousands of miles from their breeding grounds in Alaska to Hawaii, every year to the exact same spot. Coco made its home at the farm for several years now, the grass patch we planted a few years ago. What an accomplishment. Welcome back!!!

On September 5th we are excited to welcome Hawai’i artist Jodi Endicott to the Kona Salt Farm for “Papahanaumokuakea: Bringing the Place to the People”. Jodi will show several of her monk seal sculptures created from discarded fishnets and other marine debris collected at Kuaiehlani / Midway Atoll. A moving reminder of the impact wildlife faces throughout the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.
This is the beginning of an exciting partnership, later this year Jodi will become our inaugural artist in our upcoming Artist-in-Residency program at the farm. We look forward to sharing more as the program develops.
Meanwhile please join us on September 5th, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Kona Salt Farm. RSPV link in bio
You might have seen Jodi’s work recently at the Downton Art Center and at OUTRIGGER Resorts and Hotels Downtown Art Center or at the many public locations or Honolulu Museum of Art and The Contemporary Museum among many others.

One of our most under appreciated places by both Kama’aina and Visitors: the Cultural Garden at the center of Honolulu Airport. If you are traveling through HNL and have time, sooooo much better than sitting at a crowded gate.

These are our coarse salt crystals close up. On the slightly “cooler” side of the evaporation tunnels, closer to the ventilation fans, the salt crystalizes slower and the crystals become larger. If you look closer, you can see how irregular they are. If you look closer at table salt or pure sodium chloride, the salt is in perfect cube shaped crystals. Ours are rugged and irregular due to the many other minerals present in the salt.
