DON'T DOUBT about the creative process:
We challenge our students to dive deeper into the elements of Dance Composition such as Time, Space, Energy, Shape. Giving the various assignments to explore & develop their movement language. Here is one of our students experience :
Creating this dance definitely had its challenges but the outcome made it all worth it. We started by just looking at a painting and coming up with moves on our own describing what we saw. Then joining with another student to combine our moves together to make up a phrase. It was challenging not having the music to create [music was intentionally introduced later] and just going off one another’s ideas. We were given the music after we had created most of the dance, which made it hard to create but it was amazing to see how everything came together and fit with the music in the end. This piece “Don’t Doubt” was choreographed in Kona during our training phase of the school but we took it to Costa Rica to film on the San Jose base during the beginning of our outreach.

"For me choreographing for composition [without using music] is always a bit a struggle because I relate so much to music. So having most of our creative process be without music was sometimes really hard. And even when I heard the music for the piece later I wondered how it would ever work since it was so different than any of us had thought. But it was amazing how when we finally put it all together, the movement and the music, it worked perfectly! I mean PERFECTLY. We didn’t have to change, slow down or speed up one thing. It just fit right in! It was a reminder to me that it is good to step outside the box and go out of your comfort zone when creating. It definitely makes me stronger and more diverse as an artist!"

Yes! Yes! Yes! SAVE THE DATE! PROJECT DANCE & YWAM are coming together to partner in this event. We will have the beloved, epic 3-day Project Dance Event!! We are so stoked to bring this to our island for ALL dancers of all styles and backgrounds. We are so excited to welcome the international family of Project Dance to come to our little rock in the middle of the pacific for an amazing Project Dance Hawaii event!
Immediately followed by we will continue the 20th Anniversary celebrations for Project Dance with a REFUEL💥 (retreat/refresher) for dancers and dance leaders who want to lean in and ask the Lord what's on his heart for the NEXT 20 Years of Dance ministry/missions!

We worship JESUS, first and foremost. Not our feelings, not peer pressure, but JESUS. 🙏 JESUS continue to lead us into worship. ....minutes after this video worship/dance leaders brought their two 4 year olds on stage to show us how to worship with abandon 🙌
We hold dance in worship very highly. We make it a priority to spend time in worship with our medium (dance) weekly. From that "worship closet" we then build a heart posture to join the worship team. And it is always so FUN, and FREEING, and HUMBLING to worship JESUS in this way.
