A taste of Belgium at MPCC. 🇧🇪

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Honorary Consul of Belgium, Jeffrey Daniel Lau, to Mid-Pacific Country Club for a special luncheon celebrating Belgian cuisine and culture. 🇧🇪

After longtime member Roger Uveling read our recent feature on Executive Chef Marc Freiberg and his Belgian roots, he invited Chef Marc to prepare an authentic Belgian-inspired menu for the occasion. Guests enjoyed specialties including Belgian beef carbonade, steamed mussels with white wine and fennel, Belgian endive salad, and crisp pommes frites.

It was a wonderful afternoon of great food, conversation, and celebrating Chef Marc’s heritage.

The inaugural ʻEIWA Tournament is in the books! 🌺

Organized by member Rita Sierra and our Ambassador of Aloha, Mark Sousa, the inaugural ʻEIWA Tournament brought together the MPCC Niners, our ladies 9-hole golf group, for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.

Congratulations to Rita Sierra, whose birdie on the final hole helped secure first place for her team alongside Janice Nelson and Anita Bruce.

One of the many benefits of MPCC membership is the opportunity to join golf groups like the Niners, where members build lasting friendships, enjoy regular play, and strengthen our club community.

The tournament’s name, ʻEIWA, is the Hawaiian word for nine, honoring the Niners and their 9-hole golf group. Take a closer look at the Hawaiian quilt-inspired tournament logo—you’ll notice the number 9 subtly incorporated into the design, a tribute to the meaning of ʻEIWA.

Morning showers gave way to a beautiful evening on the course. A fresh perspective on the course this evening. There’s something special about the way the course at MPCC comes alive after a little rain.

Tonight’s Centennial Talk Story featured local historian Robert Clancy of the Kailua Historical Society and a longtime Lanikai resident. Mr. Clancy shared fascinating stories about the history of Mid-Pacific Country Club, Lanikai, and the surrounding community.

We were also honored to welcome a very special guest—the granddaughter of Charles Frazier, the visionary behind the development of Lanikai and the founding of Mid-Pacific Country Club.

The audience was engaged throughout the evening, learning more about the people, places, and moments that helped shape the area we know today.

Family and friends spent the day enjoying fun on the Driving Range and poolside, then joined us for dinner before making the journey out to Hole #3 for one of the best views of the Kailua fireworks.

Mahalo to the band for making the evening outside such a blast. As our country celebrates 250 years, we are especially grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, the traditions that bring us together, and the community we are proud to call home.
