May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Let break it down. 🧠💚
Mental health = emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects:
• How you think and feel
• How you handle stress
• How you relate to others
• How you make choices
And, just like physical health, mental health exists on a spectrum. You do not need to be in crisis to deserve support.
Therapy is not just for "problems"—it for growth, prevention, and living your best life.

It's time to publicly share a well-kept secret being held by current clients...
💜🐾Meet my therapy dog in training! 🐾💜
I'm thrilled to introduce the newest (and furriest) member of Inner Peace Counseling, PLC: Kaia (pronounced "Kye-a"), a 9-month-old rescue who's working toward her therapy dog certification.
Animal-Assisted Interventions can offer incredible benefits:
✨ Helping clients feel safe and understood
✨ Offering an opportunity to better regulate the nervous system
✨ Opening doors in the therapeutic process
✨ Supporting emotional awareness and self-care skills
Kaia is currently enjoying being in her forever home (with me) and has been doing a lot of training to be ready for this new venture. Soon she will start offering her gentle, intelligent presence in the office.
Participation is completely voluntary - both for clients AND for Kaia.
Stay tuned to see more of this sweet girl. 🐕

March 30 is World Bipolar Day 🟣🟡
Bipolar disorder affects approximately 46 million people worldwide, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions. Let's clear up some myths.
Bipolar disorder is NOT:
• Just "mood swings" everyone experiences
• Being happy one minute and sad the next
• A personality flaw or character weakness • Something you can just "snap out of"
Bipolar disorder IS:
• A legitimate brain-based condition with distinct patterns of mania/hypomania and depression
• Manageable with proper treatment, therapy, and support
• Different for everyone—Bipolar I versus Bipolar II
• Often accompanied by anxiety, sleep issues, and relationship challenges
Living with bipolar can mean: Experiencing periods of elevated energy, racing thoughts, and impulsivity—followed by crushing lows where getting out of bed feels impossible. It's exhausting. It's isolating. And it requires ongoing care and self-awareness.
If you have bipolar disorder: Your diagnosis doesn't define you, but understanding it can empower you. Medication, therapy (especially CBT and DBT), routine, and support systems all play crucial roles. You deserve compassionate care that honors your experience.
If you love someone with bipolar: Educate yourself. Recognize warning signs of episodes. Support treatment plans without judgment. Remember: they're not their disorder—they're a whole person navigating a complex condition.
Why March 30? This date honors Vincent van Gogh's birthday, who many believe lived with bipolar disorder and channeled his experience into profound art.
Living with bipolar disorder is challenging, but recovery and stability are absolutely possible.
