I was hearing from another clinician about how much run-around she has been getting from Medicaid for augmentative communication devices. It's a shame, really. On the one hand, I see devices provided to people based on the flimsiest of evidence, with little or no trial work done. Those devices sit in closets gathering dust. On the other hand, people who have effectively used the technology, proven both their need and their ability to use it (for sometimes years), are getting rejected.
