Lower Two Medicine Lake might just be the most underrated paddle in Glacier. While everyone's fighting for parking at Lake McDonald, you could be gliding across glass-smooth water with the mountains practically close enough to touch.
The put-in is easy, the water stays calm most mornings, and you'll have front-row seats to some seriously dramatic peaks. Plus, if you time it right around sunrise, the whole lake turns into liquid gold. Fair warning though - you might find yourself planning your next trip before you even get back to shore.
Need a ride to the trailhead? Our shuttle service runs custom schedules throughout the park, and we can definitely get you there with all your gear. Because the best adventures happen when you don't have to worry about the logistics.

In 1888, a hunter named William Dallas DeWeese spent ten days chasing elk through country most men would never dare cross. He wrote it all down.

Pour a cup of coffee, settle in, and listen to hunting history told by the man who lived it.

October 1958. A Montana dairy farm worker picked up a set of elk tracks and followed them for at least a dozen miles through rough country, armed with nothing but a .270 Wi******er Model 70 and the kind of woodsmanship you can't learn from a book.
At the end of that trail stood the second-largest elk in the world.
Fred Mercer's story is the kind of hunt that reminds us what old-school tracking, patience, and pure grit can accomplish. No GPS. No trail cameras. Just boots, instincts, and one incredible bull.
