The Support Your Local Box Fundraiser is a CrossFit event for the benefit of CrossFit affiliates affected by COVID-19 around the globe.

Over a three-week period, CrossFit will release three classic and accessible workouts that can be performed by participants of any ability level. There is no registration fee, but you have the option of donating $20-$1,000 to the affiliate of your choice. All contributions will be given directly to CrossFit affiliates.

Registration takes place on the @crossfitgames website beginning on or before Wednesday, April 1, and will remain open for the duration of the competition. The first workout will be released on Friday, April 3.

Sadly, in response to the Mayors’s shelter-in-place order issued today, we regret that we will need to temporarily close the doors of CrossFit K Block while the Mayor's order remains in place - effective ‪4:30pm tomorrow‬, ‪March 23rd‬, ‪until April 30th.‬

Members- please check your email for a few more details.

As the pandemic evolves, our primary concern is ensuring the health and safety of all of you as well as our greater Hawaii community.

We hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy and we are already looking foward to the day our doors will reopen!

K Block will remain open with unchanged hours of operation until further notice. Stay tuned as this may change.
✅All equipment is being wiped down daily before and after workout (and in between when necessary)
✅remember ABC - always be cleaning - if you touch it, clean it

Creamy Mushroom Chicken Casserole
and Thai Tomato Salad

Ingredients for the casserole:
1lb chicken breast cubed or chicken tenders
8oz mushrooms, thickly sliced
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 lemon, juiced
3-4 tbsp of flour (I used oatmeal flour, but any other kind can work here too)
3/4 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup half & half
3 tbsp unsalted butter
2-3 tbsp olive oil
1-2 tbsp chopped parsley
Salt and pepper to taste .

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour. Heat up the olive oil in a skillet and sauté the chicken, 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown. Transfer the chicken into a casserole dish (9x13). In the same skillet cook the mushrooms and the onions until golden brown, 5-6 minutes. Transfer the mushrooms into the casserole dish creating a layer over the chicken.
In the same skillet melt the butter and stir in 2 tablespoons of flour. Cook stirring frequently for 1-2 minutes. Add the broth and stir. Cook for another 2 minutes. Add the half & half and cook, stirring frequently for another minute. Add the lemon juice, stir and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the chicken with the sauce and bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve. .

Ingredients for the Thai salad:
10oz multi-colored tomatoes (cherry or heirloom)
6oz Japanese cucumber
1 small shallot onion
1 inch cube ginger, peeled
1 small clove of garlic
1 lime juiced
1/4 cup of light olive or sunflower oil
2 tbsp coconut aminos
2 tbsp chopped cilantro
4-5 basil leaves, torn
Salt and fresh ground black pepper .

Method:
Chop the tomatoes and cucumbers. Finely grate the ginger and the garlic. Whisk together the lime juice, coconut aminos, olive oil, sat and pepper. In a big salad bowl combine the veggies, herbs, and the dressing and serve.

Pesto Zucchini Noodles with Chicken

Ingredients:
1-1.5lb chicken breast or tenders, cubed
4-6 small zucchini, washed
2-3 tbsp store-bought or homemade pesto
1 tsp Italian seasoning
2-4 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
.

Method:
Use a julienne peeler, spiralizer a mandoline to slice the zucchini into noodles. Pat dry noodles with paper towels. Set aside.
In a skillet heat up 2 tbsp olive oil. Season the chicken with Italian seasoning, salt an pepper. Sauté the chicken until cooked through. Set aside. In the same skillet, heat up the rest of the olive oil and cook the zucchini noodles. They will release water. Cook until most of the water evaporates. Season with salt and pepper. Turn off the heat. Combine chicken with the zucchini. Add in the pesto. Toss until the noodles and chicken are coated well and serve. .
