one year ago today I was diagnosed with cancer. it turned out to be stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. a pretty bleak outlook at first but after treatment and surgery things are looking much better. I’m feeling good and looking forward to a long future.

We played our ‘24 season opener last Saturday Sept. 16. We played Bent Tree which is a fantastic venue for a tournament. We had a good turn out to get things rolling in the Omaha area. This weekend we are in KC and on the 30th we are back in Omaha at Indian Creek. The registration for Indian Creek closes Saturday so it’s not too late to sign up. I am way behind on posting our winners and tournament updates so I’ll start by posting our 2023 season championship tournament. Saturday Aug 5 we started in warm and cloudy weather. Everyone that signed for the tournament made it. We had 2 flights and played heads up golf, no Stableford. By the time the players reached the 12th hole the sun was out and it got hot. At the end of the day both flight were up for grabs with Jeff Peters leading “A” flight and Vernon Livergood leading “B” flight.
Sunday, final round, started out much cooler with a strong breeze. As the day went on the wind picked up but the temperature stayed lower for a pretty pleasant day. As the players were finishing their round I was setting up the putting green for our contest. This years player appreciation give away was a mid sized staff bag with the usamtour logo and I will get the winners name put on it. We had 4 players make the 15 ft putt to get in the game and by the time we got to the 9 ft putt we only had 2 with only 1 making the 9 ft putt. Congratulations to Jeff Peters for winning the putting contest and receiving the golf bag. While we were putting Jacque was handling the scorecards and figuring out our winners.

Plan your trip to Branson MO. July 23 and 24 two tournaments in two days. Saturday we will be playing at the Ledgestone Country Club and Sunday we play the Branson Hill Golf Club. The registration for Ledgestone closes this Friday, July 8. Branson Hills will close a week later. I have 6 gift cards to World Wide Golf that will be added to the flight winners at Ledgestone.

May 9th we ventured east to Warrensburg to play The Mules National. We had a great group of players join us from St. Louis, Oklahoma, and even Texas. For the 5th consecutive tournament we played in high winds. We did enjoy a bright sunny day with the temperature around 90*. We played our normal side games and added a closes to the pin on the island 18 th hole. Several players won multiple flight skins but only 2 players won giant skins worth $100 each. Our 18th hole closes to the pin winner was Bill Wirtz and he took home $110 for that one shot. The course was soft from last week’s rain and with the high wind and thick rough it proved to be a challenge for all flights. I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank you all for joining us.
