When I was a kid I would have absolutely up the ice cream, whether I was full or not.
But my kids couldn't care less about it.
They're not sugar obsessed because I've intentionally made sugar not a big deal.
They don't get unlimited access to it. It's NOT a free-for-all.
But they have it often enough, and without judgment and negative comments about it....that they literally don't care whether they get ice cream or not.
Same thing when we have dessert at home. They might eat it, they might not.
I'm not afraid to keep sugar in my house any longer for myself, and I've made sure to keep it that way for my kids too.
When you're ready to have this kind of peace and freedom with ALL foods - including chocolate, ice cream, Halloween candy, brownies, pie, cake, and any other sweet you don't trust yourself with...
