Composting Basics at the Providence YMCA! π±
We had a great time hosting our Composting Basics Workshop at the Providence YMCA / Ball Family Center! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this interactive and hands-on session.
Led by Dylan Parsley, Horticulture Agent with K-State Research & Extension, members learned the fundamentals of composting and how to turn everyday organic waste into nutrient-rich soil for their gardens.
π± During the workshop, attendees explored:
β’ How composting works
β’ The difference between βgreensβ and βbrownsβ
β’ Proper moisture and airflow balance
β’ Composting methods and bin options
β’ Tips for troubleshooting common issues
πΌ Participants also had the opportunity to visit our Providence Garden, where they learned additional gardening tips and saw sustainable practices in action.
As a special reminder of the impact of our garden, the final photo highlights onions, radishes, and lettuce harvested from the Providence Garden and donated to our food pantry to help provide fresh produce to members of our community.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and take steps toward more sustainable living right here in our community. ππ
