This is a release of the free hand that I’ve wanted to do for a long time, I love the flow of the release! One arms felt strong today, so it was nice to nail some of these! Quite a challenge at first, any sort of movement that’s different than just floating the free arm up still creates a battle in the body to maintain the balance, so it’ll be fun to work on this release. Right side has been feeling more and more consistent, and left side is getting there, but it’s still a shifty battle to hold on. So humbled by this incredibly long journey towards one arm balancing.

My first 10 second one arm handstand on the floor, and from a straddle press! 🎉🎉🎉

One arms felt super consistent today, with lots of holds being around the 6-8 second range. I decided to try and really push for a 10 second, and the idea was that it wouldn’t count if I couldn’t get back to two arms. They would always get a little wobbly around the 6 second range, so I kept in mind to really fight for the last seconds, and keep that shoulder strong!

No words to describe the excitement for this, but I’m most excited about how consistent one arm work is becoming! Hard work pays with progress and understanding!

Practice started rough today, so I decided to work on building up this combo tonight little by little, to have some fun!

It’s my first time combining press work with one arms, and I had a surprising observation. I anticipated having a harder time setting up the one arm, let alone having energy to hold one after a press. Surprise however, the complete opposite happened! The set up felt more confident, and the hold felt confident as well. Interesting observation tonight, I feel like the control of the press helped overall, but I’ll keep my eyes open for more observations as I start practicing it more.

Had fun adding in a tuck at the end, something I need to work on overall. It felt tighter than normal though, so another fun surprise.

Combing skills is a fun way to add a challenge to a workout!

Haven’t posted training clips in a while on Facebook. Here’s one from tonight!

Pictures from our performance, “Root to Rise” at Dance In The Park in Kansas City, yesterday evening!

Personally, it was my first performance in which I shared with the audience a passion for physical movement and collaboration. I was invited to participate with 5 other amazing artists of their craft, all of whom have had extensive performance experience. To say the least, after each rehearsal, I left having learned something from all of them. It was such a fun honor to have collaborated with them to share something on stage with hundreds of people watching.

What struck me was that my nerves were rather calm through the process. In our starting position on stage, I had a slight moment of panic, but once the music started, I found myself back in the rehearsal having fun, and the flow began!

It’s certainly my intention to create other performance opportunities, I loved sharing with others a passion! Thanks again everyone whom I performed with, you all made it so fun, and we killed it!

Made it to 3 consecutive stalder presses! Not pretty, and the third one was a struggle, but it finally happened (twice tonight)! I was challenged to do it by .transcending, and of course she beat me to it haha. Feels good to have done it, of course will work I’m fixing the form as I get stronger! I have my first group performance coming up this Saturday at Dance In The Park in KC! If you’re in the area come by that evening to check it out!

Inspired to create some choreography tonight by a recent rehearsal for an upcoming performance. I haven’t just played or made fun sequences in a while, so I came up with something fun tonight. I’ll make it a habit to come up with some new sequences/choreography every week or so. (Maybe get out of the gym setting to make some a little more artistic/aesthetically better!).

I was asked to participate in an Acro performance with Voler at Dance In The Park in Kansas City, September 7th! It’ll be my first performance, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s a collaborative effort with some amazing performers and athletes. I learned so much from our first long rehearsal day yesterday, and after we finished, a few of us continued playing around, getting into these amazing poses together to relax after a long day. Info about Dance In The Park and Voler are the last two photos here, take a look, and enjoy some of our fun cool down poses with and our friend Brian! .

Got off my hands and into the air last night and learned a new trick. Will try without the tumbling trainer (what I flipped over) next time! Progression was simply rolling over the trainer to feel out the movement, then get more explosive off the lead leg to clear it.

Here’s a fun block drill to help learn and understand weight shifting and shoulder elevation on the road to one arm handstands. It’s also a good way to build endurance in the shoulders! Anyone in KC want to learn handstands?
