Shout out to these 2 Indians on being named to the KMZU Dream Team. Such a special honor as this is a character award as much as it is a great player award. Being that one is a sophomore and the other a freshman the future is bright in Chilhowee

A Coaches perspective:
A lot of talk about this picture and incident. I will give you a coach’s view.

The first thing is parents talking about it being disrespectful let me ask you this, have you ever been disrespectful to someone? Second question, did you use it as a teachable moment for your kid or did you automatically come to social media to talk about it? I assure you my children know it would never be tolerated in our house and we have conversations about it. My children know their parents would probably make them quit the team if they did it.

Next thought, have you ever been in a Super Bowl, been dating the most famous person on the planet, and carried the entire weight of a fan base on your shoulders? I didn’t think so. I know that I wear several hats and get stressed out and yell when I should not yell. I know I do not always make the best decisions always. I hope people understand that life is stressful and we all show our emotions differently. The difference is 130 million people were not watching and judging myself. We need to have grace to people. Not automatically attack a person. Understand and know the situation.

As a coach I have had players yell at me during a game, and I’ve yelled back. Was either of us in the right? No. We then have a conversation between US and we squash is and move on. What happens on a team is a team situation not yours to question. If you think it is your job you need to start with your own accountability within your home and with your kids. I would venture if you asked those players if they respect me and would listen to me they would say yes. Do I think any less of them because we got in an argument? Not a chance. So why do you get that right? You don’t. It does not concern you Brad or Karen.

The biggest talking point I hear usually starts with...When I was in school...Well times have changed. While it may not be the same or agree with everything we do have to adapt. Andy Reid adapted. I bet if you ask him if he would of put up with that 25 years ago he would say no. He adapted to his players. I know he is still plenty hard on them. Just this week he had his team out on the practice field practicing in pads in the rain while their opponents were complaining about their field not being correct. If you started your comment with that then ask yourself, did you teach your kids proper respect? Are they teaching respect to their kids? Would you want your kid to be yelled at? What about if they are a grown adult? Have the conversation with your kid and then be done.

We are in a different age, this has happened forever. The problem is now everyone has instant access to complain and whine. So, I am doing the same. If you have never coached, your argument is irrelevant. If you refuse to see both sides, your argument is irrelevant because you refuse to have a conversation. Have you ever yelled at someone, and think Travis was in the wrong, your argument is irrelevant because you are hypocritical.

In closing we have to stop judging one another over moments of vulnerability because we are all vulnerable. We need to have grace. We need to understand the circumstances. We need to stop acting like we live a perfect life. We all are at fault at some point. Be the change not the problem.

The Indians played good team ball and had 4 players in double figures tonight and won at home for the first time since February of 2022. We are continuing to grow and get better. Gave a little throw back picture to probably the last time we had a group that would get 4 players in double figures…I’m going to check the books but it might be first time in my 3 years.

To some it’s a 7th place trophy, to us it’s growth. I’ve said from day 1

“𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐧.”

Is it a championship? No, but it was an earned plaque. They had to earn it by winning the game. Last year was 1 total win, this year 3 before the New Year. The future is bright for the Indians if they go fight for it.
