VEX IQ Invitational Advanced camp: June 30-July 2. Ages 11-13.
This three-day camp is built around competitive robotics. Students form teams, build VEX IQ robots, and compete in a structured invitational format.
The character coaching is at its most intense here. Sportsmanship, self-control, and leadership under live competitive pressure. Not simulated. Not practice. The real thing.

Passion at LTCA looks like:
The student who reads ahead in the curriculum because they cannot wait to get to the next build.
The one who asks "can I try it a different way?" before the coach finishes the instructions.
The one who comes back from a break still talking about the project.
That energy is not just nice to have. It is coachable, named, and built into the program deliberately.

For the parent whose child starts everything and finishes nothing:
Commitment is a coachable behavior. It is not a fixed trait.
At Love to Code Academy, we build commitment by creating environments where finishing is meaningful, where the work is hard enough to require real effort, and where coaches name the moments when a student chooses to stay with something.
Over time, that becomes a pattern the student identifies with. "I finish what I start."

A student who is passionate about coding but does not have commitment will not make it through the hard parts.
A student who has commitment but no passion is grinding without joy.
Purpose is both. Our coaches look for moments to name each one. "That is passion, you jumped in before I even finished explaining." And "that is commitment, you are still working on this after everyone else moved on."
Named in the moment. Built over time.

The third pillar at Love to Code Academy: Purpose.
Two traits: Passion and Commitment.
Passion is the energy that gets a student started, the curiosity, the excitement, the "I want to try that." Commitment is what keeps them going when the passion fades and the project is hard.
Both are coachable. Both show up in every single session.

The Love to Code Academy belt system is not a reward chart.
It is an identity system. Each belt names who the student is becoming, and specifies the observable character traits they must demonstrate consistently to earn it.
White and Yellow belts: Teamwork, Harmony, Passion, Self-Control.
Orange and Green belts: Persistence, Commitment, Integrity, Sportsmanship.
Blue and Purple belts: Passion, Integrity, Self-Control, Sportsmanship.
Brown, Red, and Black belts: Mentorship, Influence, Commitment, Integrity.
Technical skill is required. Character is non-negotiable.

Fall classes at Love to Code Academy are now enrolling.
After-school coding, robotics, and esports for K-8 students. Semester-based. Small groups. The same character framework as our summer camps, built into every regular session.
This is the program that drives the belt system, where students earn advancement by demonstrating character consistently over time.

Integrity is the hardest trait to see, and the most important.
Here is what it looks like in a coding session: a student realizes their team's project has a mistake. No one else knows yet. They could skip it. They tell the team.
That moment, choosing to be honest when no one is watching, is integrity. Our coaches are trained to notice it and name it immediately.

Build and Code and Tech Builders camps are underway.
This is the week things get interesting. Intermediate-level students tackle more complex projects, work in teams with real roles, and face challenges that require both technical problem-solving and character.

Tomorrow: Build and Code Camp and Tech Builders Camp begin.
These are intermediate-level camps designed for students who have had some coding or robotics experience and are ready to go deeper.
If last week was the introduction, next week is the real thing: more complex projects, more team dynamics, more character coaching.
