Shagane was our first Hot Yoga Teacher at Hagoyah when we offered this class just twice a month.
Shagane started practicing this yoga in 1998 and fell in love. 💕 The initial attraction was having a whole-body exercise and feeling empowered by being challenged. 💪
The first six months of consistent practice were challenging, but after about six months she noticed one day that she no longer felt pain in her joints. More importantly, she experienced overall joy and a healing effect on her physical, vital, and psychic body. ✨
Within her years of experience, she has seen many other healing transformations take place through this series. Consistent, persistent practice and patience are the keys to long-term healing and the potential to avoid certain surgeries. 🪄
Her advice to beginners is simple: just come to class and practice. Every day, unless something interferes with your schedule. Don’t set goals—just show up as you are and do your best. Your best today might simply be “going through the motions,” but if that is your sincere intention and you showed up, then that is your perfect, and you are absolutely receiving the benefits of the series. 💗
Shagane is a natural-born mentor and loves teaching. She loves to learn, and it feels natural for her to share knowledge with others.
The words “focus, determination, endurance, and let it go” have been her mantra through life’s challenges, allowing her to become a better human through the wisdom of yoga.

Most of us hear “mind–body connection” and think about stress relief or being more present.
While that’s certainly part of it, the yogic tradition points to something much deeper.
What does the phrase mind–body connection mean to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 🕉️✨
