The Country Mile – Sunday at Rail Creek CX
A Country Mile is… well, somewhere between 1 and 1.5 miles, give or take approximately one “over yonder.” Expect an obstacle or two that’s brutal on a bike but only a minor inconvenience on foot.
What we do know:
🏃♀️ Sunday, Sept 21 at 11:00 AM
📍 Rail Creek Park (6161 Woodland Dr, Shawnee, KS)
💵 $10
📝 Register on BikeReg with the rest of the weekend’s events
The course will be nicely worn in from Saturday’s racing, and after hosting two of these in 2024, we can confirm: they’re a blast. If you’re up for a little chaos—and don’t mind running when there’s a perfectly good bike nearby—this one’s for you. Come run the Country Mile.

Free Cyclocross Course Walkthrough – Saturday
New to CX racing? Join us for a free pre-race course walkthrough designed to help you feel more confident before the start line.
We’ll cover:
—> How to break down and manage technical sections
—> A few key skills you’ll use throughout the course
—> Sessioning tricky spots together
—> Q&A to wrap things up
This is perfect for riders lining up in Cat 4, Cat 5, or Juniors later in the day. To join, just sign up for the free CX clinic on BikeReg when you register for Saturday’s race.
⚠️ Note: This clinic is only offered on Saturday. Sunday we’ll be hosting the Country Mile foot race instead.

Important Registration Note
All registration will be through BikeReg—yes, even day-of. We’ll have a few tablets available for those of you who don't pre-reg, but let’s be real: most of you will just pull out your phones, grumble about forgotten passwords, and register that way.
Why the change? Running CX races is already a ton of work with very little pay. Cutting out cash, checks, and paper waivers saves us a huge amount of hassle.
So please help us out: register online, and register early. It makes race day smoother for everyone.

If you’re following this page, you’re probably already sold on how awesome CX is. But if you need help convincing your roadie (or gravel) friends to give it a shot, this three-part article series was written exactly for them.
Coach Kent recently wrote a three-part series aimed at convincing bike racers—no matter their primary discipline—that cyclocross deserves a spot in their training program. Especially if having fun and becoming a more well-rounded rider is part of your long-term goals.
"If you want to improve your ability to handle high-intensity efforts and stay with faster groups, cyclocross is one of the best tools out there. CX gives you a condensed, externally motivated effort—essentially a race simulation that focuses only on the hardest parts of your event, whatever that event may be."
