Mobility Monday #13 - go touch a tree
This one is more focused on mentality with yoga. At the dog park, doing random asanas because why not? Wall sits against the tree felt particularly good, so that's my assignment for you today. Find a space for your practice that doesn't involve unrolling a mat and having the just-right perfect conditions.

Mobility Monday # 11 - "I Call This One Crazy Stairs!"
Come do an adaptable mobility warm up with me while I suffer through the start of a lupus flare-up. doing movements like this helps reduce my flare ups because connective tissue is the main thing lupus targets, so less parts stuck with inflamed connective tissue, the more likely I'm able to keep moving on with my day.
if you enjoy these ugly yoga tips, I am currently accepting 1:1 sessions to help you find what works for your pain. find me at my newly built website thefidgetyskeptic.com
Mobility Monday # 10 - Chaotic Embodiment
this ugly yoga tip is using stork pose for proprioception in everyday practice for hip alignment. keeping your hips square so you aren't pulling into the low back is the goal for this one. be sure to check out my website thefidgetyskeptic.com for more ways to work with me to help you reach your mobility goals!

I plan to pivot away from spending as much time on social media for my own mental health, so this is where word of mouth and sharing my site with others would be extremely helpful for me.
Have you ever just taken a moment to check how you're standing? "Stand up straight! Suck in your gut!" Was a phrase I heard a lot growing up (despite never really having "a gut" as a kid, all humans have stomach rolls when we slouch) but as an autistic person, I never knew what standing straight actually meant, so I overshot it, to be as literal as possible, without ever knowing that it still wasn't right because I'm hypermobile too.
Had I known anything about posture, or even been given any guidance without seeking answers on my own, I could have saved myself years of painful over-corrections leading to poor joint health. Even after learning to not lock your knees while standing, "keeping a slight bend" meant nothing to me. "But if I bend my knees, my quads get so tired!" I was 38 when I finally learned what real postural alignment felt like. Before I learned it's about stacking the joints, not straining any specific muscles, but about letting the skeleton of your body support you.
Regardless, this is your call to check your postural alignment » Ears over shoulders over ankles.
Until next time, take care of yourself ❣️
