If you ride a bike... you're a cyclist.

That's it. That's the test.

Not your average speed.
Not your FTP.
Not your Strava stats.
Not whether your bike costs more than your car.
Not whether you're wearing Lycra, baggy shorts, jeans, or a superhero cape.

Road bike? Cyclist.
Mountain bike? Cyclist.
Gravel bike? Cyclist.
BMX? Cyclist.
E-bike? Cyclist.
That slightly rusty bike that squeaks louder than you do on hills? Also a cyclist.

Some riders chase podiums.
Some chase sunsets.
Some chase coffee.
Some just chase the feeling of being a kid again.

At the end of the day, we're all doing the same thing: turning pedals and trying not to run into things. (Even when you do run into things….. you do not get kicked out of the club!)

So ride fast, ride slow, ride far, ride around the block.

If you're riding a bike, congratulations—you've already qualified.

Dutch team scoops 17 bikes from KC shop. Is city ready for World Cup cyclists? - NewsBreak Kansas City has been actively preparing to help people get around for the FIFA World Cup — extending the city’s streetcar , adding bus routes and more. But

We have seen a lot of people coming in to switch from car dependency to cycling.

Whether you choose a traditional non e-bike or a cargo bike to carry the little nuggets we love and call our children(grand children).
There is one thing we all think about….the safety of getting from point A to B.

Bike lanes must become part of the planning process for cities. Not just a painted line on the right side with a bike painted every mile or 2. Protected bike lanes. Where we can commute to work, school and everything life allows us to do.

Understand the need.

Just because you don’t see them(bikes) using the lanes, doesn’t mean they’re not used.

They most certainly are.

Please do not tell us to “go ride in a park”…..my doctors office is at KU Med center not the middle of Shawnee Mission Park.

It’s time for change.
