Home to Full Throttle Fighters Boxing Club, this first minority-owned sports training facility in the area is creating opportunities for athletes of all ages through boxing, strength & conditioning, personal training, youth development, and community outreach.

Master Melvin Wesley is a highly respected boxing coach, mentor, and former standout fighter with an outstanding career record of 127-7. With decades of experience in the sport, he is known for his sharp boxing IQ, disciplined training style, and passion for developing champions. Through his leadership and mentorship, Master Melvin has helped guide countless young athletes by teaching not only boxing fundamentals, but also discipline, confidence, respect, and perseverance. His impact extends far beyond the ring, making him a valued figure in the boxing community and a true mentor to the next generation.

John Alcala is a highly respected Kansas boxing coach, mentor, and community leader with decades of experience in the sport. A longtime figure in the Topeka boxing scene, he formerly operated Alcala’s Boxing Club and now leads Three Shields Boxing Academy in East Topeka. Alcala has played a key role in developing regional Golden Gloves talent, serves as a board official for Missouri Valley USA Boxing, and is recognized for empowering youth through discipline, mentorship, and boxing. In addition to his impact in the ring, he has also served as a Kansas House of Representatives member and community advocate.
