The first thing I remember customizing was my skateboard.
I remember putting on new grip tape and realizing something interesting, it felt different. It stopped being a skateboard and became my skateboard.
I’ve always been fascinated by that feeling.
A camera becomes your camera. A car becomes your car. A golf club becomes your golf club.
Customization isn’t always about performance. Sometimes it’s about connection.
The things we use every day tell a story about who we are. They carry memories, experiences, and pieces of our personality. The smallest details can create the strongest connection.
As a designer, that’s what I’ve always loved most—not making things look different, but making them feel personal.
Because when you connect with your equipment, you tend to appreciate it a little more.
And sometimes that’s enough.
