The Heart of America Rugby Football Union will hold open tryouts Sunday Oct. 2 at Tower Park off 78th & Holmes in Kansas City, Mo. The training session begins with drills at 10am and will be capped off with a live scrimmage. All collegiate eligible players are encouraged to tryout.

Making the Heart of America team is the first step towards becoming an All American. The HOA All Stars compete Nov. 5 & 6 in the West Collegiate All Star Championship in Kansas City, Mo. in front of the West selectors. The best players will be selected to the West team, who compete in a National All Star competition in the spring in Glendale, Colo. in front of the All American selectors.

From those players an All American team will be selected. The last Heart of America player to be selected as an All American was Oklahoma’s Taylor Mokate in 2010. Making the All American team is a step below making the US senior National Team.
