Incase you missed the news over on my personal page, Lauren Thompson, things have been brewing over here in the PNW! Namely babies! 👶🏼
As my midwife said last week, pregnancy gets harder and labor gets easier. So, I expect this labor to be a breeze 😂 I, and my pelvis, have been incredibly grateful to have a full Pilates studio in my home this pregnancy.

Our KC studio is officially closed.
When I arrived at the studio last Saturday to get everything packed out, I immediately felt that the place I and the studio had called home had changed. It was no longer home. The city had come in unannounced and chopped down the trees.
What was once a charming tree-lined street has been changed to your typical urban ‘ode to concrete.’ The multitude of things that make the Westside special are being replaced one by one.
It’s a mixed bag, the trees were Bradford pears and the sidewalks are in desperate need of attention, but the Westside residents will have to fight like hell to get the trees replaced at all. To get back the landscape and feeling of their neighborhood. Of course that fight is one I’m all too familiar with and one that runs much deeper than trees.
Throughout my journeys in the Westside, the trees have served as messengers for me and been very symbolic. (Maybe I’ll write a short story about that some day) They made it very clear. This is not the same place you fell in love with. It’s time to go and grow where you’ve been planted.

All good things come to an end.
Due to a number of factors, it has become clear to me that it is time to close Thrive in Kansas City. I opened Thrive in 2015, at the end of my 20s and entering my 30s. I am, quite literally, in a very different place now than I was in 2015. I can't thank you all enough for the support you've shown us over the years. Thrive has been a magical place not only because of our amazing teachers, but also our wonderful clients.
Our last day seeing clients will be Saturday, April 29th.
Of course, let us know if you have any questions. I and your teachers are happy to help any way we can through this transition.
Thank you all again for these amazing 8 years. I hope our paths cross again in the future.
All the best,
Lauren and the ladies of Thrive 💚

Why do we start a new year, with promises to improve?
Who began this tradition of never-ending pressure?
I say, the end of a year, should be filled with congratulation, for all we survived.
And I say a new year should start with promises to be kinder to ourselves, to understand better just how much we bear, as humans on this exhausting treadmill of life.
And if we are to promise more, let’s pledge to rest, before our bodies force us.
Let’s pledge to stop, and drink in life as it happens.
Let’s pledge to strip away a layer of perfection to reveal the flawed and wondrous humanity we truly are inside.
Why start another year, gifted to us on this earth, with demands on our already over-strained humanity.
When we could be learning to accept, that we were always supposed to be imperfect.
And that is where the beauty lives, actually.
And if we can only find that beauty, we would also find peace.
I wish you peace in 2023.
Everything else is all just a part of it.
Let it be so.
