Go watch clean and jerk your deadlift without a belt and then throw yours away.

Learn to brace appropriately. Now of course there’s nuance to who uses one and why. There’s a trend where you see people using them for like machine rows, lat pull downs, or hell fricken shrugs. It’s gone too far.

What are you afraid of?

Squat tip 1.

First thing you move is your knees tracking in line over your toes. As long as you can. This lets you stay upright longer.

The more upright we are the less sheering force on our spine.

Try out the Back Squat Improvement program on the ONTHEX Training app if you’re wanting to seriously level up your squat game.

Rest in Peace Donny

Don Gonzalez was born in Setauket, NY. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country with 2nd Recon Battalion on multiple deployments. However, his service to country didn’t end there. Once separated from the Marine Corps, he began contracting as a security professional supporting U.S. initiatives abroad.

Don Gonzalez passed away on October 7th, 2026. With this fundraiser, we aim to provide financial support to the family as they navigate this difficult time and the inevitable financial burdens that come along with it.

Don served our country for his entire adult life. Let us come together and support his family in this time of need.

Why do most fail?

It’s no secret that being physically fit is a huge part of any military selection. We’ve got that covered. We have the blueprint for you. We have results. You need to show up.

The mental battle. This we can’t necessarily teach you. How bad do you want it? Can you learn from failure? Can you take a deep breath and think under pressure? Can you make decisions? Do you have what it takes?

Besides not meeting standards, the psychological failure is thinking you can’t make it. Maybe telling yourself you don’t “actually” want this. Maybe it’s comparing yourself and thinking you’re behind other candidates. You’re not out until they tell you. Don’t self select. If you’re questioning yourself then you’re already behind when you show up.

Put one foot in front of the other. Count the little wins. Make it to the next meal, make it to the end of the road, make it another hour. Keep giving yourself little wins.

You bring the dedication and we provide the map to achieve the fitness required.

Slow is smooth.

Control the weight. Time under tension and tension during lengthening are key components of hypertrophy.

Or
