少林传承 🥋
The Transmission of Shaolin Kung Fu
Shaolin Kung Fu has traditionally been passed from master to disciple (师徒传承) through an established lineage system. 🙏
Much of this transmission takes place through oral instruction and personal teaching. The master explains principles, demonstrates techniques, corrects the disciple and guides years of practice.
Knowledge is therefore not simply learned from written texts — it is received, practised, understood and passed on. 🪷
The Shaolin Lineage 📜
During the Yuan dynasty, Chan Master Fuyu (福裕) played an important role in organising Shaolin Temple’s monastic lineage.
Tradition attributes to him the 70-character generational verse (七十字辈谱), whose characters designate successive generations within the lineage.
For example:
德 · 行 · 永 · 延 · 恒
Dé · Xíng · Yǒng · Yán · Héng
A monk’s generational character can therefore indicate his place within the lineage — connecting him to the generations that came before and those that follow. 🔗
More Than Martial Technique ☯️
Traditional transmission encompasses far more than physical movement. Through the master–disciple relationship, technique, principles, discipline, experience and tradition are carried from one generation to the next.
师传徒承 · 代代相传
From master to disciple, from generation to generation. 🙏
