This past Saturday our Kids competed at JJWL in Dallas and 1 student competed here locally at Battleground. It is always incredible to see them progress competition to competition. I told them all last promotions, winning and losing does not occur in competition, it occurs in your preparation for competition. Stay courageous, stay hungry to learn, because these traits can serve you in life as well. Good job everyone!

Thank you to all of our kids who could make promotions tonight. It has been incredible to watch each one of you progressing along your own respective journey. You each meet your challenges head on. I always believe as an Instructor that I am teaching much more than Jiu Jitsu, and more so life lessons that can be carried on. I'm so proud to be a part of your journey!

Merry Christmas all!!

Congratulations to our Kid and Adult competitors. 11 competitors: 2 Gold, 7 Silver, and 2 Bronze.

It takes courage every single time to register and compete. I'm proud of everyone's efforts. My goal is to give every student the opportunity to realize their potential. I use each class to introduce new concepts and techniques, I have competition prep classes, and try to cover what the experience of competing will be like.

Ultimately, it takes going
out there and challenging yourself, for yourself. Winning a Medal is fun, but it's so much more than that. Each are conquering something; fear, anxiety, nerves, etc.

I'm so proud each time, because with each competition I see improvements as much as I see areas to improve.

To our first time competitors, great job!! To those students already on their 2nd, 3rd or 4th competition what great progress! Krista on her Blue Belt debut after being promoted only a week prior, winning Double Gold in 2 separate divisions; really precise, technical Jiu Jitsu!

Congratulations to everyone who earned a promotion this evening. Jiu Jitsu is a long journey. The goal is to meet each challenge and each milestone. To some it may be just a piece of tape or a belt around your waist, and that is technically true. What they'll never understand is what you endure and achieve when you earn each.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! I try to be thankful throughout the year and show my gratitude in various ways. We at Caio Terra Academy - Katy wish you all a special and memorable time with your family and friends!

THIS WEEK:

In the kids classes, we have been covering the Punch/Block Series in our Self Defense week. Fundamentals in how we protect ourselves, neutralize our opponent, and get back to a standing position.

In our Adult classes, we have been covering the pinning principles to pressure and dynamic passing. This covers positions 1, 2, and 3 (Knees, Hips, and Shoulders).

For all who served, we honor and celebrate your service and sacrifices. Happy Veterans Day!

It's hard enough competing locally and having your Coach available, but these 3 went out and continued to challenge themselves without a Coach at the Florida Jiu Jitsu World League. This was their 3rd competition, 1 every month since September (Houston, Dallas, and Florida)

Janie takes Gold, Emory takes Bronze, and Oliver takes Gold in some really good matches. I'll take lessons from their competition to keep adding to the classes so that everyone learns from the experience!
