The Mountaineer, located in Keene Valley, New York, the Home of the Adirondack High Peaks, is an iconic outdoor specialty store that has been a purveyor of fine mountaineering and outdoor equipment since 1975. Serious mountaineers, expeditionists, hikers, fly fisherman, campers, rock and ice climbers, trail runners, backcountry skiers, young and old are all welcome. Social & Environmental Responsibility: The Mountaineer takes its role in the community seriously and strives to make a difference through volunteerism and annual benefit events such as the Adirondack International Mountaineering Festival and the Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival. We are proud to support local schools, athletics, churches, fire departments and others throughout the year. In addition to providing financial support to worthy local and regional causes we take great pride in volunteering for community organizations such as the Keene and Keene Valley Fire Departments, the Adirondack Community Trust, New York Ski Educational Foundation, and local athletic teams.
