We’re delighted to welcome the Natural Resources Stewards Program to Keene for the very first time in program history!

Facilitated by UNH Cooperative Extension, this comprehensive 12-week program brings together guest presenters from across the state, local organizations, and nationally recognized experts to provide hands-on learning about our local ecosystems - including forests, wildlife, and water quality.

And the learning doesn’t stop there! After completing the program, participants give back by volunteering on conservation and environmental projects in their communities.

This first Friday session at Wheelock Park welcomed local arborists Joe Britton and Jeff Garland, who gave a comprehensive history of trees in Keene, along with threats our trees are facing, while highlighting the arboretums we are fortunate to have at Keene State College and Ashuelot River Park.

We love partnering with local organizations and community-minded individuals on projects that enhance play, recreation, and the outdoors for all ages!

A huge shoutout to Kara Frost, KPRD Lifeguard, as she works toward earning her Girl Scout Gold Award! Kara proposed an exciting project to build gaga pits at two popular Keene playground destinations - Wheelock Park and Fuller Park, right in front of the Recreation Center.

We’re thrilled to support Kara’s vision and see this project create even more opportunities for kids and families to get outside, get active, and play!

One week from today! We’re thrilled to invite our community to help shape the Robin Hood Park Renovation – Phase II plans with CHA!

Join us Tuesday, September 15 at 5:30 PM at the Recreation Center for an overview of the project - where we are, where we’ve been, and what’s next - followed by facilitated, hands-on table stations here you can share your ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Who should weigh in? Park users. Neighbors. Residents. Summer camp families. YOU! Come share what you love about Robin Hood Park, what you’d like to see, and what would make the park even better for our community!

Fall Youth Sports are HERE!

We hope everyone enjoyed a great Labor Day weekend because now it’s time to get moving - KPRD Fall Youth Sports 2026 officially kick off TOMORROW, September 8! Registered families have been notified of team colors, coaches names, and practice/play dates, times, and locations.

Plenty of fun, teamwork, and memories ahead with our Youth Soccer and Flag Football leagues - let’s get this fall season started! We’ll see you on the fields!

Heading to Art in the Park this weekend? Be sure to stop by Table 21! Come meet Lu-La, the City of Keene, and the Monadnock Conservancy and get hands-on with the vision for the Ashuelot Green Space Project.

Curious about what a nature-based playground could look like?Want to build, create, and share your ideas?Ready to help shape a space for our community?

Lu-La, a nature-based landscape design company working with the City of Keene on initial conceptual renderings, will be there this weekend engaging with community members. Come find us at Table 21 and show us what YOU want to see!

Help shape the future of Robin Hood Park!

The City of Keene, CHA Solutions, and the Robin Hood Park Steering Committee invite you to a public feedback session for Phase II of the Robin Hood Park Renovation Project. Phase I - Pool Renovation - is currently out to bid with the City's Purchasing Office.

Learn about the plans, meet the project team, and share what features you want to see in this well-loved park space. Your input will guide key decisions and help bring this much‑needed renovation to life for our community!

KPRD Youth Soccer and Flag Football registrations are open through Wednesday, September 2! There are still a limited number of spots available, and we’d love to see as many kids as possible out on the fields this fall. (We’re still welcoming Coach volunteers too!)
