White Crane Martial Arts White Crane Martial Arts offers training in traditional Okinawan karate, kobudo, Japanese JuJutsu, a Mind. Body.

​At White Crane, students have the opportunity to learn authentic, traditional martial arts. Ours is a holistic approach that emphasizes the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit. We specialize in the following budo (martial ways):

-Empty Hand Defense / Karate
(Shorin Ryu Karate-Do and Goju Ryu Karate-Do)
-Grappling Defense (Aiki Budo)
-​Weapons (Okinawan Kobudo)

We also provide the opportunity to conduct research into traditional Eastern practices, as well as formal training in the Japanese and Chinese healing arts as well as others. Our School offers the finest martial arts training and education in the region. In addition to developing physical skill, you will also improve emotional stability and mental power, as well as gain an understanding of Eastern philosophy, language, culture, and history. we provide numerous seminars at White Crane and arrange trips to visit other schools in other states and around the world. We will offer you the opportunity to learn from some of the world's greatest martial artists, both here and abroad.

My sensei would often talk about what it means to be a good citizen; that studying the traditional martial arts helps cultivate positive, healthy values in oneself. Values such as integrity, humility, compassion, going out of your way to help others, respect for all life, were all prominent in our almost daily training. It was drilled into our heads. This is the “Do” in “Karate- Do”. It is the essence of what we do. My sensei always used to say “if everyone in the world were to practice traditional martial arts and adhere to its principles, there would be no war, no violence”.
Dash Moyse embodies these principles. I met Dash over 8 years ago when he stepped into my dojo and during that time I have seen him grow from a small child into a fine young man. Dash is kind, humble, is always thinking about others, hard working and lives life to its fullest. What could be better?! However, the credit does not go to me. It goes to his parents. It goes to Dash for putting in the work.
This past week Dash moved down to Massachusetts to start his freshman year at Amherst College. I will admit a bit of selfishness on my part by wanting Dash to stick around but, at the same time I (we) are very proud of him and wish him luck on this next chapter in his life.

I have always admired my first Budo sensei in many ways. His kindness, his compassion, his wisdom (not just knowledge!), his passion for life and his devotion to his martial arts training. And, of course his technical skill goes without saying, but that’s down on this list. I do my best to live up the principles that he taught me. A big part of who I am is because of that man. I now try to be for others what he was to me. Remembering Patrick Donahue, Sensei today 9 years after the date of his passing.
