SportsNewHampshire is a website created to bring local sports coverage back to the forefront of our communities. We want to bring those scrapbooks back. Enjoy.
SportsNewHampshire is an online publication dedicated to covering local sports with a passionate and exhaustive approach. The goal of SportsNewHampshire is to be the area’s leading source of local sports. Think of it as old school journalism using new school technology. We remember the days when parents cut out articles about their kids playing on teams in youth leagues, high school, even college,
and pasted them in scrapbooks to become cherished family mementos. We remember when you could read something more than a line or two about a local softball or horseshoe tournament. It wasn’t that long ago when you knew who the top road runners were or who the best amateur golfers in the area were. We’ll introduce you to them again. A key element to the success of SportsNewHampshire will be our ability to weave our way into the fabric of the communities we cover. Doing that means providing timely, up to the minute coverage of stories that matter to the people in that area. Our success hinges on our ability to live up to the obligation that every story matters and has value. The strength of SportsNewHampshire is owners who understand the value of local news coverage. Ryan Watterson grew up in this area playing sports and writing about them. He is part of a family that has been active within the community, especially in local sports, and fully understands and believes in the value good local sports coverage has in a community. Jim Fennell is a veteran journalist who has been recognized nationally for his ability to report and write on stories that are topical and impact the community. A past recipient of the state’s Sportswriter of the Year award by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, Jim has been covering sports in the Monadnock Region for more than 20 years. Both are involved with local sports and civic organizations. The circulation area of SportsNewHampshire’s Greater Keene Edition stretches across 23 towns. The three high schools in the circulation area (ConVal, Keene and Monadnock) have a combined enrollment of 3,200 students and field 88 varsity teams. That is only the start. There are almost as many sub-varsity teams fielded by those schools and another 50 or so teams in the middle schools that feed into the high schools. All will have unprecedented coverage in SportsNewHampshire. We will also track athletes after they leave high school and continue their careers in college. But there is more. Youth sports throughout our coverage area are exploding. Soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse and ice hockey are just some of the sports kids play throughout the year. Adult recreational sports such as softball and basketball and flag football continue to be popular. Don’t forget the area golf courses that host a myriad of tournaments, the long slate of road races and other popular events and leagues for horseshoes, bowling and pool. We will cover them all. And if you don’t see something that you think should be on our site, let us know. In short, SportsNewHampshire has appeal to almost all 70,000 people living in our coverage area and to scores of people who no longer live here, but still have ties to the area. Our site – www.sportsnh.com - allows them access and in-depth coverage from wherever they are.
